18% price increase on Rolex Submariners (confirmed)

In Norway. Looking at the various models from SS to PM on www.rolex.com (Norway IP-address and pricing); all having a price increase of 17-19%.

What!?

Anyway: Happy New Year to you all.

17-19% is a big big increase especially if its on precious metal as well.

Must have been much cheaper to buy in Norway then. That is the biggest price increase I've heard of all countries

To be frank, the Norwegian krone (NOK) has weakened for some time. And, given the fact that VAT in Norwy on these merchandise is 25% - and foreigner buying can deduct that - maybe the major price increase is quite logical.

Do you have any info on Swedish retail?

Also Norway is a non Eu country. Does that have an effect on pricing?

I don't hold a proxy nor IP-address needed for browsing Swedish prices at www.rolex.com. Being a member of the EU or not, it hasn't matter in pricing as of yesterday (as pricing has been normalised between NOK/SEK).

Thanks.

I ordered a YG Daytona last year for delivery summer 2020.
Bummer if I get Norwegian price hike.

But I can see the idea behind it. Even out the prices world wide local taxes included as it was 20% cheaper in Sweden compared with US for the same watch with todays exhange rate and tax refund

Despite what I previously thought the Swedish site actually does show prices (just not on the mobile page).116519ln is now 321 600sek, up from 282 450sek. So about 14%. That's the only price I knew before so can't compare any other.

11% increase on the GMT BLNR (A$13600) and 12% on the CHNR (A$20,850) in Australia. When I picked up my CHNR 6 weeks ago I asked the SA about a possible price increase. His reply - "very unlikely".

I've given up here, the pricing is irrelevant when dealers only supply their VIP's. Had a DSSD on order for a year, and I see them readily available in the US. With our dollar rallying over the past week, I'll just get one in the US next month, even if I have to go grey it's becoming a smaller premium to pay.

I got my Exp II in Bergen in August, 2018. Price was about $8600 in US Dollars at the time. Dollar is even stronger now. After VAT rebate plus US Customs, I paid about $7,200 net.

Insane!! One have to wonder if Rolex can sustain the price level if the interest fades or if we revert to steep discounts. Time will show.

For sure the watches are not even worth todays price considering the value of the metal. Incredible what brand name and proper marketing can do

As FOREX changes, large manufacturers are incurring losses in some markets while making it up in others.

But during any routine MSRP adjustment relative weakness in the currency outlook in markets needs to be addressed. It’s one reason the Rolex price increase may be more or less elsewhere than the increase in their home market.
