Thoughts on Torneau?

Hi. Wondering about people's experiences with Torneau? I'm assuming because of there size they can probably help get hard to find models for re-occurring customers.

Experiences/thoughts?

Thanks!

I dont mind them... they've been good to me... they even drove my purchase to my home to deliver it.
the pricing structure on USED pieces though is out of line with market valuations.

The last time I was there to buy, no sales associate gave me the time of day (no pun intended.) I bought elsewhere.

They do not provide box or papers on secondhand watches. That’s a 100% no go for me.

That's terrible. What do they do with them, I wonder?

that's so weird... they seem to fall over themselves every time I go in. But that is probably location driven. Quite often when I go in, in a matter of a minute or two I see the drink tray come out... and I am not a high roller for them in any particular way.

The particular location I visited seems to have a reputation for being snooty. No big deal, I got what I wanted, they didn't.

Prices I saw on secondhand stainless sports watches were much higher than I expected. I got a piece from my local AD second hand for around $9k, same piece was going for $12k in Torneau

I’ve purchased several new watches from two different locations. The sales people I work with are always very nice and they text me when something new comes in they think I might be interested in.

This 100%. Rolex in NYC is as depressing as the rest of them. The used watches are insanely inflated.

I can only rewiew the one in Las Vegas.

Had nothing as far as new goes of any interest to me. Sport/Professional.

No interest from SA to locate or put me on wait/call list.

Used they had a lot. For to me laughable prices. And no boxes/papers on 90% of them.

I would never buy there.

I’ve had good and bad experiences with them just like I’ve had at many ADs and Boutiques while we’ve been traveling. If I’m in the area and I see one I’ll stop in.

I sold one watch to them many years ago, and more recently bought a watch from them (Nomos, not Rolex). Both times they were friendly, accommodative and very straightforward.

If they hadn’t pulled out of Chicago I’d have no issue at least checking them out if I were in the market for something.

Folks on TRF call it Turdneau for a reason...terrible customer service and a general lack of knowledge first come to mind.

I just hate how they follow you around the store AFTER telling them to leave you alone... I had to tell the guy at the Vegas store to "please leave me alone." Other than that, it's a cool joint.

The SAs in their Wailea and Kaanapali locations were very nice last week. Even though their cases were pretty empty, they were happy to talk watches. They did have a well used BLNR in their Kaanapali location for only $18,000.

I have no idea why. I’ve tried to buy two or three secondhand watches from these chuckleheads over the past five years and every time they said they would not provide the original box and papers. I never did ask for a secondhand Rolex though. Just AP, Omega and Breitling. Every time I asked why they said it was company policy. The last time I asked them was 18 months ago so perhaps things have changed. Also the boutiques that told me this were in Bal Harbor, West Palm (closed now) and the Lenox Mall Atlanta.

I've bought several watches from Tourneau over the years, most recently a BB58 for myself and a Tudor 1926 for my wife. I've always had great customer service and pleasant experiences.

I hate generalizations. I met my longtime SA in the early days of the Houston Tourneau in the late 90’s. Bought multiple watches from him but perhaps ironically never a Rolex. Why? For Rolex their company policy was based on the VIP and bundling system long before we’d put a name on it here. It closed a few years back after losing several of its biggest brands, I followed my SA to his new store where he can actually sell me Rolex.
That said, when browsing their stores in New York and other parts of the country, I’ve always been treated courteously so I can’t complain.
It’s pretty much never the store that’s good or bad, but its employees.

I’ve heard this and don’t understand it. The couple times I enquired on a trade in trade up they insisted on boxes.

Maybe Jockes got them all?

They got me a bb gmt within one day of inquiring for one. 99% of it was luck and perfect timing but hey, they managed to bring one in for me. Other AD over here said they straight up aren’t taking orders on the bb gmt because they don’t know when they can get one. So props to tourneau in that realm.
