San Diego - What areas?

Going to go there for the first time with a gold watch on the wrist. Either a 5711 or 326938. Coming straight from Las Vegas where I’ll be having it on.

Planning to stay downtown SD. Is it just like lower Manhattan?

Or... Is it better to keep it in the hotel safe?

SD downtown is more like cleaner Lower East Side.

Put away the tank top and you'll be fine.

Gas lamp has two or three streets that remind me of 3/4th avenue in manhattan. Otherwise not even close to nyc.

Dueling piano bar is pretty cool

The homeless will have no doubt you are a baller. They won't really care or say anything or do anything to you, but be assured they'll be thinking it.

I’m originally from San Diego and visit quite a bit. Have brought many watches with me over the years and no issues.

If you visit Sea World or the San Diego Zoo please be careful of a new local gang of mommies and strollers, targeting fat, old, rich, white guys and their rolexes.

One quarter of San Diego is surfers, one quarter is millionaires, one quarter is Navy, and one quarter is little Mexico.

You will know which quarter you are in and can act accordingly.

Come to my home area in SD, La Jolla. We have good watch stores that sell everything from JLC to Patek. And good restaurants. Across from the watch stores (the other side of Prospect) is Eddie V's seafood (and steak) restaurant, which is good.

Most of the homeless are sporting Rolex SS sport models so you’ll be fine ...

Make sure you go to the Rolex ad at fashion valley and see the deep sea display if you already haven’t seen it.

I spent a week in San Diego last month and visited lots of places , no Issues at all , La Jolla was our favorite part of SD , but also visited , Coronado,Downtown , Old Town, Hillcrest no probl at all wearing a Rolex.

As ticknaway said make sure you go to Fourtané @ Fashion Valley mall and check the Deepsea display , they're a very nice AD.

Don't remember the name of the shop , but had an awesome coffee at a coffee shop in Prospect st. very close to the Richemont boutiques, I just visited the Panerai but there was a Patek,Lange and JLC all next to each other.

I was born and live in SD, love it. You’ll be fine in downtown........but if you were to go TJ I’d leave it. Btw HK Tijuana super fun if that’s something you’re in to.

I know I hide all my valuables every time I visit the Del Mar Country Club. Some of the members are always eyeing my steel sport watches..

Don't even get me started with the people in Rancho Santa Fe.. If one of them steals my watch, I won't know which 10 million dollar house they are hiding it in.

All kidding aside. I am not that big a fan of San Diego downtown. Nothing wrong with it but it isn't like Manhattan. Many of the areas outside downtown are much much nicer. One of my favorite beach towns is Encinitas. Parts of it still feel like a gritty beach town that you imagine a beach town would be. I almost bought a house there before I took a job promotion up north.

And for those wondering, Northern California is nothing like Southern California. It really is like 2 different states.

Thanks a lot for the input. New city, so don't know the "feels" of it :-)

I'll check out that Fashion Valley store. May swipe for the iced out Daytona I heard they have.
