New GMT Pepsi from Mappin & Webb with “extra” 5 year warranty

I have just purchased a GMT Pepsi from Mappin & Webb, same group as Watches of Switzerland and Goldsmiths. I was given the paperwork which included the Rolex 5 year warranty card and also an extra 5 year warranty card from M&W.
Apparently this is new for 2020 from the group, very happy.
Love the watch.

I over heard this in Watches of Switzerland the other day. I presumed I had just misheard?!

Congrats!

Yes WOS group has been doing an additional 5 year warranty on Rolex from June 2019. It's the reason I sacrificed Harrods rewards points by not buying my Datejust 126233 from Harrods and going down the road to the WOS store instead on Brompton Road!

Love the watch.
I received the extra 5 years from M&P when I bought my DJ41 in September, so it is something that WoS have done for a few months at least.

Harrods are also offering similar warranty-esque care package, if I am not mistaken.

Good choice. Nice watch.

Read the fine print. In the end it’s still likely a 5yr warranty because if you don’t service within 5, it voids the additional 5 on the purchase anniversary.

Does that AD have their own watchmakers that will service your watch beyond the manufacturers manufacturer's warranty or will they send to Rolex and cover the cost?

I have been waiting 10 months.
I have had a look at the receipt and WOS warranty card, it does not mention anything about having it serviced for the extra warranty.
I was told that the latest watches don’t need to be serviced for about 10 years.

If that’s the case, that’s good.

Doesn’t hurt to ask them.

Enjoy the watch.

WoS sister company Mayors also does the additional 5 year coverage (10 years total).

Are there any conditions with the extra warranty like needing regular seal checks, etc.? What does it say in the fine print?

I remember reading about some brands offering extended warranties like this, but they were only valid if you sent the watch back to them/their certified watchmakers at regular intervals for pressure checks, etc.

Sounds pretty cool! congrats on the new watch!

When I'm back in the office I'll post a scan of the warranty.

I bought a Rolex from Mayors 3 months ago and the AD did not mention this to me. Is this a blanket policy they have?

I have the same warranty with my Rolex 126233, there's not hidden surprises or catches.

Rolex now suggest service every 10 years anyway, it's even stated on their website.
