Guest of Rolex

I was wondering if anyone has ever had the privilege to be a invited to a Rolex sponsored event, either by Rolex or another co-sponsor? Usually, at these events VIP's gets some sort of goody bags. Recently I bought a Rolex lanyard from an eBay seller that was formally owner of an AD. He said this particular lanyard was strictly for VIP's at Rolex events and explained that unlike most lanyards you can find where the name and crown is printed, this lanyard has the name and crown embroidered. I must say, the quality is splendid.

I’ve been invited to the Australian Open tennis the last couple of years.

Got a Rolex belt last year, I can’t remember what we received the year before.

I turned down an invite to the Presidents Cup golf tournament in December.

Personally I can’t stand golf. It was an easy “no thanks”.

Last year I was asked to the Australian formula one GP but couldn’t attend.

I have been to a number of Rolex hosted events, invited by my AD. Usually there is a swag bag given at these events. I have a number of hats, belts, wallet, binoculars, bags.....
They are usually very well organised and food / drink flows all day. The most recent was the President's Cup Golf Day.

F1 would have been great! It is the only thing Rolex does that I would have interest in going to.

Seems like Australia is the place to be for these events.

I've been invited to a Rolex event the past 2 years. They are in May after the Basel World release.

I guess swag-bags vary from event to event. Here in Toronto, Rolex Canada commissions Godiva Chocolate Company to make a special box of chocolates done up in a special Rolex Box that is cellophane sealed. I've gotten one of these each year as well as the recent Rolex magazine. Judging by the size of the box, I believe it to be a 26-piece ensemble, and knowing Godiva, a 26-piece box typically goes for about $50.

The AD through which Rolex Canada hosts this event get catered with both wine, champaign, and lots and lots of finger foods. So much so, I go on an empty stomach and fill up.

Those attending usually number around 60 people.

The F1 was AWESOME, I was there on the last day at last years, got to meet Jackie Stewart and Mark Webber. Jackie stayed and had lunch with us, happy to speak to us all and sign whatever we asked him to.

I’ve gone to the US Open a few times in the Rolex seats courtesy of my AD. I also attended a dressage event in Central Park sponsored by Rolex. The giveaways were usually things like baseball caps and watch rolls.

That's really nice. Sir Jackie is the only Rolex ambassador who has my respect

Nothing yet from Rolex... but my Omega AD has been AWESOME!

I have been invited to a screening of the last few Bond movies before they were released. Normally a full theater and then some kind of dinner and discussions. Always a top notch goody bag with useful stuff. They really go all out.

Noting from Rolex but some good AP events back in the day like a trip to Le Brassus, trip to Miami for a Lebron James event (when he played for the Heat), NYC event for Serena Williams, invites to lots of art events and a dinner here and there. As I've slowed my AP purchases so has the invites.

Two more all-time greats and ambassadors as well. Also, Tom Watson. I don't have enough fingers on my hands to count all the respectable ambassadors.

Guest of Rolex, no.

Guest of Patek, yes. Now that’s on an entirely different level.

I've been to a few events at the Boutique. Generally to show new watches from Basel. I also went to the US Open (golf) this past year. Usually just hats and maybe chocolates. Swag isn't generally that great but I do enjoy the events.

Oh, plus lots, and lots of ‘swag’.

All courtesy of Patek.

I’d say that beats any of Rolex’s offerings, hands down.
