At least it fills the empty displays that make Rolex look out of business

Those empty cases looked pathetic. This is the solution.

When you thought it couldn't get worse than the empty display cases...

That's great, they should have more "Display only" pieces. Everyone is complaining on not being able to try on before buying. Not sure it would benefit Rolex though.

Is that a Sub on the right? It’s got a date but doesn’t look like a cyclops is there. That and the bezel that isn’t fully graduated... is it a 5-digit SeaDweller? You aren’t going to get one of those at an AD anyway. But I do take your point.

It's to try, then put your name down at your local AD and never receive it. If you do get the call expect 2-5 years waiting time.

In Zurich airport over the weekend. Massive display of about 11 watches for exhibition only including the RG DD40 olive dial, RG CHNR, YG blue dial sub, RG yachtmaster, YM II. Milgauss. Etc...only available inside the store were DJs, and a page diamond dial RG YM.

At least it allows us to try on some hard-to-get pieces before we order from the greys

Just dropped into our Buckhead AD and only PM models - nice GMT there and a Sky-D. I’m not thinking the drought of SS Pro models is due to break for many a mango season.
But - as I left via the back parking lot, FEDEX was delivering 6 big boxes so maybe I should have walked back in? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

But its great to try them on but what chance if any of actually getting is very small if none at all.... I went into a Rolex dealer in KL and he said he had not seen a SS sport watch for over 12months...

I'm guessing it's to drive traffic/interest into the store, where they're hoping to upsell you on one of the PM versions. |

There are many things that are ridiculous about the current situation, but here's one positive and IMO it's a big one. Without even getting into the conversation about paying over retail going gray (although I have no problem getting into it), etc. I'll just say I'm all for getting what you want, when you want it. However, it's difficult to pull the trigger on a watch you've never tried on or even seen in person.
If I'm considering a watch and an AD has one I can look at but not buy, at least it will help me make the decision whether or not to buy gray. |

I dk - I see both sides here.
I kind of like that they have these pieces available for display. The only issue there becomes will they take an order or deposit to secure one of those models... guessing it's a no. This is where I see the issue - why display and advertise if you are not willing or able to sell.

Just click on one of the bazillion threads asking the same question. The “answers” have not changed.

I think its fine for people to handle/try on/actually see in the flesh/spin the crown.
THEN BAM Back to reality, jk. It doesn't bother me with the current situation. I would rather have this then empty cases.

I actually like the display only models...lets you try a watch out, especially the hot models so if one comes from your AD you can pull the trigger and buy it quickly...also gives you the flexibility to try the watch before going with a grey dealer.

It’s a Submariner ref. 114060. They don’t come with a date like the Sub Date ref. 116610 does.
