All about relationships

It's truly about building a relationship. I started collecting Rolex in 2018. It was off to a slow start as this represented my first venture into the luxury watch market, but despite many mistakes, I learned to enjoy the hunt as much as the piece itself. I will add that I'm not a flipper, as to date, the only watch sale I have ever made was a datejust at a $2,000 loss to fund another purchase, which decision I regret.

In one year, I have been offered the following, all from ADs at MSRP:
- Sub date with three month wait
- Oyster Batman with no wait
- White dial ceramic daytona with 3 month wait
- James Cameron with no wait

Learn to enjoy the hunt and good things will happen.

I've purchased all except the James Cameron. It wore a bit large on my wrist, and I adore my classic sub date, but one day I could see myself getting the JC . I'm not a fan of 44mm watches, but if it's the JC, it's perfectly acceptable.

Agreed :)

Alas, what happens when you move thousands of miles away and your previous guys... one retires (he deserves to retire, great guy!), and one the partnership dissolved. Moving crimped my, er um, 'lifestyle' of loving mechanical timepieces.

Now a few years later at new-to-me AD and we're all good

PS: Nice pics IndianRider! :)

I just became their friend, we talked a lot about watches, I kept stopping in to say hi, and they came through with what I hoped to find.

SkyDweller S Blue.

purchase history : Sd43, Tudor GMT.

PS: is your Indian Rider nick related to the motorcycle brand? I'm looking to buy my first motorcycle "Scout bobber" :-)

Soon all this nonsense will end and ADs will be incentivising purchases again, those that survive what’s to come.

That is certainly accurate but it also largely depends on where your AD is located. Each market is very different. Larger metro areas are clearly more competitive.

Hell yeah! I've got a 2019 Springfield darkhorse with mods including the 116 big bore kit, freedom headers, 16" apes, and pretty much every other upgrade you can have. I lust after the scout bobber though, it's so classic and perfect for city riding. I see you're in the Middle East, but if you venture into the states to buy one and want to know where to go, my guy Duffy's one of the best mechanics Indian has and can hook you up with the best setup you can find.

This is true. I'm in the DC metro area, however, so hopefully this encourages some looking to find their dream pieces in markets like this

Um.....not Rolex ADs

Breitling yes
Omega yes
Panerai Yes

I do see PM Rolex going back to 20% off at ADs

I can tell you this. Watches of Switzerland is never going to discount on Rolex. I think they would close their doors first.

OP-I couldn’t agree with you more. Build that relationship and you will sooner or later get what you want. You have a great collection.

100% agree. I bought my wife’s engagement ring 10+ years ago from the same SA which is also a Rolex AD. I have since bought miscellaneous jewelry from him and in the past 2 months a TT Bluesy and SubC ND. I recently turned down a CHNR but just got the call for a Hulk 2 days ago which I just couldn’t say no to. He told me the next Pepsi that comes in is mine if I want it, although I may have to throttle back in lieu of recent purchases! If a SS Daytona comes in this year I don’t know how I would be able to turn it down! Good and bad problem to have I suppose, but again all because of relationship/purchase history. He knows that I’ll always support him when I’m in need of jewelry/watches so he always takes care of me.

I'm very glad you're found a fantastic go-to AD, and congratulations on the Hulk!!
