you couldn't even get more than 30% before everything blew up in 2016/17. i think most people who were lucky got around 25

According to my SA, 30% off is their cost.

If SS models retreat to msrp, you could expect to get 15-25% off PM models. Especially true in minor US markets. If I say, if.

30-40% discount is completely unrealistic. Now and then.
25% perhaps was the maximum discount, but in the last several years even this amount has dried up. Maybe if you walked in an AD and dropped 100K on various things, who knows? |

One other point that is worth mentioning... AD markup is somewhere between 35-40% of actual cost (I’ve heard specifically 37.5%). You have to be realistic and factor in overhead, SA commissions, etc. when taking into consideration the level of discount the AD is able and willing to give. With that considered, I would think that 25% is the MAXIMUM discount you can expect to see on a new PM reference even in times like these. Just my 2 cents. |

I don’t recall SS DD’s being in the current catalogue.

Those types of discounts have certainly decreased just by perusing the classified ads here in the past 2-3 years. Day-Date is still the flagship reference, you may be hard pressed to get anywhere near 25% discount in these times. |

That would require a few things... 75% to 90% US unemployment, total collapse of US power grid, a bunch of other things. So I'm not saying it is IMPOSSIBLE, just that I would not want to live in the world where that price is attainable.

In the UK (airport duty free) they would do 5% off MSRP for sports PM, in the good times before 2018 and things got so dry. You would get 20% off again for no VAT (tax) if you were flying out of the EU
They would do 1% off TT sports if you were an existing customer as a good will gesture I’m wondering now in the airport if they’re even open at all, as certainly there’ll be practically no customers. If they were open it would be the perfect time to try and get anything as the allocations would come in with no buyers asking every 5 minutes |

When you're traveling through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a la Mad Max, and your caravan of drifters happens to stumble upon the remnants of a burned out storefront, you'll walk in there and there will be a zombie AD, and he will offer you a DD for ten cans of corn and a dozen boxes of Twinkies.
Now wake up from your fever dream, OP. |

I wonder if the AD I’m working with would at least discount tax on the PM YM I plan on ordering when they open up. Although I feel weird to ask since this is my first purchase with this AD.
