have i got the wrong watch

Hi all,
I am a first time Rolex owner, just thought it was time I got one.
My question is this, I bought my watch on line and it was sold to me as an Air King 114200.
The watch I have received say on the dial Oyster Perpetual, there is no Air King logo on the face of the watch.
I am new to Rolex but I believe these to be two different watches, am I correct in that assumption?
I look forward to hearing from you, thank you

I could be wrong, but isn’t it a dual ref, right before the new 40mm Air King was released.

I have looked back at the email trail from the seller, but the picture in it is too small to see detail and I cant expand it.

the Watch I looked at on the website did have the logo on it.
they both look similar to my untrained eye, so I was not concerned by the small picture on my order

Looks like, if you bought from a website starting with a W and ending with "finder", there is a mistake in the announce. Even tough the title was "Rolex Air-king 114200", the watch on the pics is an Oyster Perpetual model.

I have no personal experience with Watchfinder apart from wasting far too much time browsing their site but from the outside they seem like a legitimate company.

Have you contacted them?

A Rolex is a substantial investment so if you're unsure or unhappy in any way my advice would be to return it for a refund. I wouldn't like to have any doubt creep into my head every time I look at it.

Good luck sorting this out

yes that lo0ks just like the one I have received, the one I was looking at though was described as a 2018 air king.
although I may have mistaken the date. it does look like that may be the one I bought. should it be described as air king?

you are right, I know this is at the low end of the price range but none the less fro me is still a substantial investment.
I think the company is legitimate. but im wary of sending back something I have paid a large sum of money for as I will then have no watch and no money.
I paid £3,000 for this piece, so even if not an Air King would you say the price was right for an Oyster?

It looks like the 114200 reference can be both an Air King or Oyster Perpetual? https://www.markworthingtonjewellers...al-oyster.html

If you search that reference on Chrono 24 it brings back both.

If so the Watchfinder listing just had the wrong title but the right watch. I would guess they just type in the reference to get the description they use in the title and this reference could be either model. They are a legitimate company, sold watches to them a few times.

I have used wf quite a lot over the years. I have had very few issues but those I have have been dealt with really well by them. Very prompt and no arguments or issues.
Just let them know they have sent you an OP rather than the AirKing and I’m sure they will take care of it for you. Good luck

I have bought and sold a number of watches from WF. Both by mail order and in store. They are a large, reputable company. It looks like a mistake in the listing, probably caused by the 114200 reference being used for Air King and Oyster Perpetual.

If you decide to return the watch, for any reason, don't worry about not getting your money back.

I was shopping for an OP a while back for my wife. Some of them came up as Air Kings and some did not. The reference number can be either. I think it is basically the same watch but some do not have the Air King wording on the dial.

Richmont Holdings Limited own Watchfinder. Therefore you are not dealing with a tinpot jeweller. They have shops on pretty much every major high street. Check out Adrian at Bark and Jack on YouTube’s video on the hierarchy of risk, Watchfinder charge the most as in most peoples mind they are as reputable as an AD.

It’s unlikely they have got the reference wrong however without pictures we have no way of knowing. If you contact Watchfinder they will definitely help you out.

Hope you find the reassurance you are looking for.

What did you conclude? This is an example of why I am reluctant to purchase through anybody other than an AD. Reputable companies and there is still confusion and sometimes fraud. Good luck!

There is no 34mm Air King now. Rolex use 114200 as an OP, but it looks like it had been an Air King in the past.
