GMT II CHNR and BLNR - Good Pair to Own?

Wanted to see what you guys think on this combo? I am getting my 2nd Rolex tomorrow. Bought the CHNR last year and got bit by the bug. Wanted to pick up a SS sports watch to complement the two-tone rose gold and first thought about the Submariner. Then I saw the BLNR and fell in love. Really like the idea of the jubilee (in contrast to the oyster on the CHNR) and the bezel is gorgeous. I was hesititant to get two GMT's but I feel they are different enough to have two of them.

What do you think? What ss watch would you get to complement the two-tone CHNR. Thanks for sharing!

Don't really have any strong opinions on your thoughts to get a BLNR but I would say that as you already have one GMT, why not go for something a bit different like a sub just to mix things up a bit. I love your CHNR btw. I really, really, really want one!

Get the one you want... I got a sub. Id get a BLRO a Sub Date or a Black GMT in that order. But I have a Sub and a CHNR so I'm biased

I would try to diversify a bit more. Too similar for your first two

Not sure what other watches you have. But if it were me, I'd get a non-GMT as a next watch for a bit of variety.

That said, can't go wrong with that pairing though.

You should ask the guy on TRF who recently posted his GMT collection. He has just about every modern GMT made (seriously, about 10 versions).

Don’t second guess, they are both spectacular.

congrats and enjoy!!!

It's your money; you've worked hard for it, so buy what makes you happy.

Just curious on why someone would 2 or more of the same thing though. I understand that they're different because of the bezel insert colors. But is that enough variety though? Why not something with a different complication? Or a different brand?

I'd get a SS DJ to compliment a TT GMT. Just like I did. As to whether it's a good combo, I don't see why not. If you like them both it's a good combo to own.

How about a Bluesy? It’s a Sub. Yellow gold as opposed to Everose.

I think it's great. If you like variations of the same complication, in this case Rolex GMT,
then I say why not. Go for it.

Would be curious to see the root beer in person but personally doesn't do anything for me in pics.

I would look at other watches. You have a super case already and there are many other amazing models which offer a different wearing experience...

I think you should get what you want. Sure, these two watches are the same model and offer the same functionality, but they look COMPLETELY different. And a sub or Explorer aren’t going to offer any different functionality, just less. A Skydweller would be a good consideration if you wanted something truly different, but I’d take the Batman over any sub even if I owned the CHNR.

Some people feel they need diversity to justify their choices, others feel they need the collection to say something. I think you should buy what you like the most, what you’ll be most excited about bringing home. You’re not locked into a Batman, if years down the line you realize you don’t want it you likely won’t lose money on it trading for a sub.

I almost bought an Explorer II black dial while I owned my Explorer II polar. The only thing that stopped me was some massive weight loss that made them both too big for my wrists, which went from almost 7” to 6.25”. Otherwise I saw them as two very different watches. Who cares if the functionality is the same if the functionality is great? A jumping hour hand is one of the best complications for me as I travel often.

I say Yes why not. They’re both GMT, but very different vibes. The Batman on jubilee is sportier while the CHNR has a lux vibe. I had the SS and TT subs as well but retained these instead.

You already have a GMT, go for a different complication. Buy a sub (Hulk), or a blue dial fluted, jubilee DJ41, or Wimbledon. If you are planning for a collection in the future then I don’t see any problem in buying a BLNR, but if you’re a 2, or3 watch guy then no sense in buying another GMT.

Not to me, they look fake. I prefer the old 5 digits. These are copies.

‘Better’ is subjective.

Better in what way?

While I think the Sub would be the perfect compliment for me, I say get the BLNR. You said you saw it, and fell in love. That’s all I need to know!

I think the BLNR will compliment your TT GMT well. Completely different look but the same watch functions. So what, the colors are amazing and the jubilee bracelet changes the look completely. Get your BLNR, you will not regret it.
