228235 Olive Dial
For the owners out there or those who have seen it in the metal, can you share your thoughts on this piece..
Want to add some Rose to my collection in the next year or two and always like having something to aim towards! Thanks |

I tried one on and liked it a lot. I’m hoping to get a DD40 fairly soon and I keep going back and forth between this and YG with the Silver Romans. Just not sure if I’d get tired of the RG. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Green Color Dial was the big reason I brought mine. It looks amazing.

I had the Olive. Its nice in some lighting and not very nice in others. I sold it and got myself a YG DD40.
Look its the "IN" color right now. All green is. I would say though that this color will die out sooner or later. Same with the other less traditional colors. IF your going to drop $30k on a watch - consider your dial color to ensure it lasts a very very long time and not just the "IN" trend would be my recommendation. |

I think it is gorgeous but think the olive will be a fad. I also just traded a RG Daytona for a YG DD with champagne dial. Something classic that will stay fashionable for a very long time.

You guys are both mistaken. If anything the RG olive is the modern classic. It will def stand the test of time. And the champagne dial on the DD36 is "classic"..on the DD40 it remains to be determined. The RG Olive is the standout DD40 imo.

I love the combination on this DD.
It's out of my price range at the moment but it's something I would definitely get in the future. I particularly love the watchmaker's '4' (aka IIII), such a subtle detail that balances out the width of the roman numeral '8' at the other end of the dial. Pure perfection

I don't own one but I've seen one at Frankfurt airport AD early last year and tried it on. Gorgeous piece. Maybe the best looking DD. The only DD I would maybe take over it is platinum with Romans ice blue dial. And that's a maybe.

It was not the case for me. Thats why I sold it and dont regret selling it either. I'm not a fan of green at all on this, the hulk or any other green to be honest on a watch. All I'm saying is green is a recent fad. I would think dropping $30k on a watch is not something many can do everyday or very often so choose your dial WISELY. Go see it in person and if it absolutely doesnt amaze you hands down DO NOT buy it. It will be an expensive lesson. Even my RG Choco dial I know at some point the novelty of that will wear off as well. All these dials Green, Olive, Choco and the other recent popular ones will fade and that is coming from an owner that used to own both. LOL Here is a pic of when I owned both. My advice choose a dial color that is classic and will truly be in style for as long as you are around. (i.e) Silver, White, Champagne, Black, Blue etc.... |

Have had the Olive dial since 2017 so a little over 6 months now. Don't think Green is a fad, if so please explain prices on the Kermit which came over a decade ago. But hey, I'm sure when watch houses started making blue dials there were people that said "don't go with the blue, it will bore you after 6 months, its a fad color, get the black dial!" To OP, here are my two favorite DD40s. I own both of these, and they aren't going anywhere.

I agree with the statement that it’s a modern classic. It’s not like we’re talking about a neon green. It’s fairly muted and more of a neutral green than that of the Hulk.

I definitely am drawn to the Green since it is such a classic Rolex color.
Never could bring myself to love the hulk and tend to favor PM. I guess the other choice is the YG Daytona John Mayer! |

Keep in mind that dials can be switched out easily and cheaply, so if dial color goes out of style or your tastes change, it's easy enough to "fix."

Green has always been Rolex's color, so how could it be a fad?
Another +1 for the RG DD with olive dial. I have had the pleasure of trying it on, and it is stunning. Maybe one day! |

I’m on my 4th 228235 olive. Always sell to want it back. It’s a keeper now. This piece is my all time favorite next to the sundust Dial day date. The olive green dial is not a fad but not for everyone as one mentioned. Cool factor is it’s a 60th anniversary DD.
Something I recommended is find a configuration that looks good on your skin tone. Rose gold and chocolates Dial is not for me, neither is white. Here are my 2 DD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not an RG fan as it’s blingy for my taste. But WG olive yes!
Green is Rolex color and dial can be replaced anytime. Metal is for the long haul so i chose WG Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Definitely not a fad. I’ve had mine since it released in 2016, and haven’t even come close to tiring of it.
Green is Rolex’s color, and this dial signifies something special (60th anniversary). |
