How do you feel about bracelet stretch?

Me, I absolutely hate it. I have one watch that has significant bracelet stretch, I bought it at a time when I didn’t know much about watches and it has now become my beater, for this reason really. Makes me feel As though the watch is broken in some way. The particular watch I have is 16613. Also a reason I refuse to buy 5 digits anymore. I have seen bracelet stretch on six digit rolexes but haven’t experienced any myself. Saw a very badly stretched dd40 the other day. Also I reason I won’t buy a jubilee bracelet as much as I love how it looks the deterioration is something That would be constantly bothering me.

How do you feel about it?

It’s fine as long as it isn’t to the point it’s really risking breaking.

My 16750 was very stretched for a long time, and it finally got to the point I sent it in.

I think it’s a bit wrong to attribute it to 5 digit models however.

Yes the 6 digits have solid links which feel more substantial, however the bracelet has a pulling effect, so essentially the material in the middle makes no difference at all really, and may even hurt in the long run as it’s just more weight to the pulling motion on the outer edges of the brace/ walls of where the pins are in the bracelet.

I honestly feel it’s more just an age thing rather than build quality.

I feel you worry too much about it. Have it fixed if it bothers you. I also feel that anyone who has a watch worth $5000 and thinks it's a beater doesn't have it so bad.

I don't think that's too bad. I had a jubilee in bad shape (I'd seen worse) and sent to Mike at Rolliworks, https://www.rolliworks.com/gallery . Came back like new. Highly recommend.

Have seen some work of there’s and it looks great.

I’ve always been under the assumption that bracelets on 5 digits stretch much more, I am incorrect?

First there is no such thing as bracelet stretch its bracelet wear, which is mainly caused by the owner not keeping bracelet clean or wearing lose.I have two 5 digits watches used as proper working tools underwater, and seen more use and abuse that most of today's Rolex watches will see in ten life times.Yet both have very little wear and now 20 years old its all down to owner care no matter the reference whether 5 digit or six..

Yes. But I have the RSC ultrasonic cleaner which I use to clean my bracelet frequently.

I think the damage was done on mine before I got it, however I didn’t even know what “bracelet stretch” was at the time I bought it. Live and learn

Only have it on my 14060m. Didnt knew Rolex service can/will fix it during service. Can anyone confirm this? I Always thought only rolliworks types could take care of "stretch".

I can tell you, modern bracelets do not stretch like previous versions. A buddy of mine is the hardest on a watch i have ever seen a person be. His blnr is hammered. The bracelet, very little stretch if at all. He had a crown hard that looks like it was hit by a rock. So, if he isn’t stretching bracelets out, i think the average person is probably fine.

I actually enjoyed a little bit of stretch on the previous bracelets. I feel like they were super comfortable with a little bit of give.

I can’t stand stretch either. If I ever get to a point where a bracelet has stretch I will either get a new bracelet or sell the whole watch.Prob Wont happen as I rarely keep a watch more than a few months.

Truthfully the two tone 5 digit oyster bracelets with hollow center links are amongst the worst as far as bracelet wear. The fact that stainless pins constantly pivoting inside soft hollow 18k center links are are recipe for center link scalloping and elongation of the center links. There are some images of this bracelet where the thing is really worn out. Link pins visible and in some bad cases link pins worn right thru the gold center link.

Exactly. I say if it fits wear it. And if it doesn’t than get it sized. A Rolex watch is meant to be worn.

Five digit SD, hollow links. Interested to see whether people think that good, bad or average?

Why don’t RSC overhaul these bracelets rather than just refinishing them?
