Icon4 Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight Blue - Dial Flaw???

Hi Everyone. I am new to the forums and figuring it all out. Happy to be here.

I got my new Tudor BB58 Blue on July 1st and as soon as I left the boutique and in the sun I noticed purple specks on the dial in certain bright light. Has anyone experienced this? Also general thoughts? I tried to attach it. NOTE: the dots.

Thanks so much for your time! Seriously.

Could it be just the shadow of dust on the crystal?

Good question. Nah. It is quite hard to capture on camera. Under a loupe is very noticeable. Almost like purple ink blots...

Since you noticed it the moment you left the boutique, I have to ask: Did you walk back in the boutique and tell them? What did they say?

If it was my watch, this would bug me. I'd would take it back to the boutique and have them send it to the Rolex Service Center for a new dial.

Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight Blue - Dial Flaw???

I saw a YouTube video that showed those. Don’t really remember who’s video it was. I didn’t pay close attention to it.

Keep it. Maybe it will turn into some valuable tropical, spider, or similar damaged dial in 50 years and be worth some $.

I did, they asked Tudor about it and they said to send it in. My AD said to keep it for now because of how backed up the service center is right now.

Plus who wants their brand new watch opened right after it was made?... Just not fun if it doesn't hurt performance.

I do agree with you. It only bugs me if I can see it all the time, but I cant.

They are supposed to be there. I have seen macros done on the dial and there is textured (dots) to the dial.

x2. Correct, I've also heard/read this. This reviewer mentions the spots too, at about the 3-minute mark of the video:

oh awesome. thanks for the link. I guess that debate now is since more than one has it, it is supposed to be there? Yall say yes, but I would wonder... How was this not caught? It does not necessarily look great. It is interesting and will be interesting to see how it ages.

I see. Seems that it is part of the texture for sure. Although mine seem a little... bigger. That is an awesome shot.

I think these are two different things. The OP posted about a handful of large off-color dots on the dial. That's different than the factory texturing done throughout the dial, imo.

I like this- a lot. And a lot better than the Pelagos blue, which has the cluttered dial (in my opinion). I like the early Pelagos (2-line dial) but it only came in black.

This, this is nice. I’m going to be near an AD tomorrow- I’m going to stop in (and most likely be disappointed with their selection).

The AD said they absolutely agreed, especially under a loupe that the dots were evident. They suggested not sending it due to the huge wait times at the service center right now and because it doesn’t effect the performance to just leave it for now unless I want to use the warranty within the next 5 years.

Put the loupe away. It's a 3 grand watch, and mass-produced. The finish isn't going to be immaculate. It clearly bothers you, and it's your right to return it, so do that.

But Dan you must have a loupe and look under certain bright lighting to see them,IMHO its just normal paint pigment.
