Odds of getting a blue Skydweller

What are the chances of me walking into AD and getting offered a blue Skydweller?

I was told I had to spend $100k THIS YEAR to be considered for the list. I told my SA if they had watches I wanted then that wouldn’t be a problem!

Your only option is to go grey. They are available via that route.

About the same as him inviting you over for an adult party at his house, with his wife.

Maybe this was a special circumstance but a good friend of mine was able to collect his within 2 months. It helped that he requested to put his name on the list on the same day that he purchased his wife’s engagement ring.

I've had a good relationship with my AD for several years now and she's managed to periodically deliver a few coveted pieces like the Sub LV, SD43 and ceramic Daytona over the past 5 years.

However, no chance of a blue SD, despite me being on the waitlist for more than a year now.

Oops, my bad, forgot a pic....

I was at the AD getting a price on a new Seiko orange Samurai and they asked if I wanted to see the blue Skydweller they just got in. I said sure, why not? Next thing I know it's two watches I bought this week.

My AD who I have almost a 10 year relationship said he couldn’t promise me one in 2 years. Even with my vast purchase history. Not quite 100K but pretty darn close.

So I did 2 things.

Went Black.

Emailed Tony.

Zip zero chance. Best bet is go to a grey dealer. Try it on. If you like it, buy it.

Maybe more people need willingness to buy it with a Seiko watch, haha

Zero. Only one blue Sky Dweller has ever come through my AD since it was released. All others were 2-tone or the black and white dial versions. I got to try it on since I knew the buyer. It wore too large for my liking, and I can pull off an SD43!

The manager at one of my ADs said that he sees all the stainless in equal quantity. He said if anything he sees less white. He said blue is by far the most popular and black is a little ahead of the white.

He did also say that he sees far less stainless Sky Dweller than Subs, GMTs, and Daytona.

It’s been said already. But you need to go grey if really want one. I am #3 on my AD for last two years. I will never get called. Coveted pieces go to ballers or VIPs or out the back door to some grey where owner can’t get a lot more than MSRP.
