Looking at this 5513

Have an opportunity to buy this one. Service dial from the 90's and bracelet is a 93150. The serial number puts it as a 1969 production.

Anything else I should check on?

What would be a fair price?

I'd save my pennies and get one with an original dial. Service dial with metal surrounds on the plots feels wrong on a 1960s 5513. It will be hard to sell if you ever decide to part with it.

Are those marks on the dial or the crystal? Regardless, I second what zapokee said. Not to mention the insert is much later too.

I mean...maybe if it's a good price and you want one you REALLY don't need to worry about cosmetically...but frankly that dial would bother me.

Period correct dial (if you can source one) and a period correct MK1/MK2 bezel insert may set you back $6-7k.

I agree with everything above, if budget allows I'd get an original matt dial 5513...... and if it doesn't I'd be looking at mid to late 80's 5513's with original gloss dial.

Are we allowed to mention prices or not?

I think the amount needed from going from this to a better 5513 is not that big.

The more I look the more I have to ask; what ARE those spots near 10-11-12? Anything specific?

If you're ok with WG surrounds you might as well get a later model that actually came with that style. Mine is from 1989 and has since had a replacement dial and hands fitted by Rolex. The only difference from the original is the 'Swiss' only mark and the working lume.
