Zuckerberg buys Rolex? (the company) This article is a joke, right?

https://twobrokewatchsnobs.com/mark-...ocial%20empire.

This popped up in my newsfeed, can't seem to find any other article about it in a quick google search....

Not sure if this link will shop up correctly but if you Google "Zuckerberg buys Rolex" this article will come up.

It's from a new satire column on the Two Broke Watch Snobs website called Balance Cock Bugle.

I even tried to look up to see if that website is known for satire, didn't really find anything on that either, but seeing how they're the only one writing about it also makes me think it's not real, after all, that would be major business news!

Could you imagine....moving manufacturing to China and "a million subs are cool, but how about a billion?" Yikes!!

I know...right? But...in this world, money makes the world go around, so I suppose nothing is impossible. I just don't understand the purpose of this article!

Damn, you had me so excited. I was hoping to see an overylay submariner with facebook updates, ads, likes, dislikes, messages, wall, photos and everything else that I don't care about.

Complete and utter boswellocks like most stuff on the net today Rolex is a foundation and cannot be owned, bought or sold to anyone for any price. The company is set up in such a way that it continuously perpetuates its existence through properly allocated funds into research and development but they do still make a large profit just like any other business to survive.

Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, was orphaned at age 12,he spent the rest of his teenager years in an orphanage. He later began to work for a watch exporter in Switzerland, then went on to found RWC now just Rolex as we know it today.

Hans Wilsdorf and his wife owned orphanages in Switzerland and donated profits of the company to various charities and orphanages. To this day a large share of the profits go to charities and the Rolex Awards for Enterprise but they still make a company profit to stay in business.

The way Rolex has this setup is quite common. At least the overall setup as I obviously have never read the Rolex documents.

BTW I listen to these guys's podcasts. They just mentioned in the Podcast released this Sunday that this section (The Balance Cock Bugle) is just a satire section. As they said on the podcast "Its like The Onion".

To get people to read it and spread it around. No other purpose but you did your part.

Yeah...so I joined in June....and???

I saw it, thought it was relevant, checked the forum for other posts about it, didn't find any, and thought it would be an interesting post. I had skimmed over the history of Rolex and how the company is structured some time ago, but I am no business mogul, lawyer or investor, so while I sensed this might be satire, I wasn't entirely sure, all the more reason to post it to see what others think. Not sure what the date of my joining has to do with anything? Do new members just suck at Rolex and you have to level up first?

In the end, this post created some history lessons by knowledgeable people, lots of laughs, and I guess a mild kick in the nuts for being new for myself. I'd say it was a successful Monday post!

I mean makes sense with all the talk about "AD Relationships" Facebook is where you can build "relationships"... Instead of getting the call from an AD, you would just get a friend request or they would finally accept yours... Sweet! Time to pick my watch...

Intriguing...haha :P

Yes can't imagine moving manufacturing to China and Rolex watches to be advertised and sold online through Facebook.Would be the most disastrous, stupid, worst news ever if it was true. And I would quit Rolex for sue.

Watch the social dilemma. I don’t know why people rely on Facebook for news. It’s manipulation.
