It’s Alive!

7 years ago, I bought a Sinn U200B, a 37 mm limited edition diver. I purchased it brand new from the only authorized dealer in North America. I was very impressed with it, especially the specs: built from submarine steel, 2000 M water resistance, tegmented bezel. It has the weird dehumidifying capsule built into the case side. It came on a white rubber strap, which I had them switch out for black, (white straps are not my thing) and a blue and white Nato. Then I ordered the OEM bracelet for it, also tegmented. Great little diver, built like a tank, or so I thought. About 6 months later, it suddenly stopped. I had not dropped it. It simply stopped working. I never sent it in for warranty work. I just put it away. So yesterday, I was sorting through my collection and picked it up. As soon as I did, it started running. I set the time and date, and it has run perfectly since, keeping very accurate time. Weird, huh?

I realized, I should have posted a pic:

Yes, it’s almost like getting a new watch, again. As for the design, me too. Very clean and crisp. Most of their divers have red accents on the bezel, which I also like.

Glad that it's working again, but do you have any idea why it stopped?

I was just browsing the Watch Buys site yesterday looking at Sinns. If I can't get an Explorer anytime soon I was thinking a 556i would satisfy in the meantime, maybe even better in some ways. The new compass-less Seiko Alpinist also gets my attention to fill that role.

Both great watches. The only thing I came up with is that it may have gotten magnetized, when I went through Airport security? Perhaps over time, it became demagnetized on its own? I am just spitballing, here.....

That's a cool piece, indeed looks like a new watch. Enjoy! Maybe it now lives up to its perception after all.

Great watch. Magnetization is a good theory here I think.

I love that hypothesis. So hi tech and sci fi. Perfect for a Sinn. Or Accutron.
