White Skydweller Dial Color
Like many on this forum I am hoping to add a Skydweller to my collection in the future. Of course my number one choice is SS Blue dial, but I think the white looks incredibly sharp as well.
I was able to try on a TT White Dial today and I noticed that the dial appeared to be more cream, or off-white than the crisp white of the Polar Explorer II or the Daytona. It was noticeably different than the more white color of the inner GMT wheel. Can anyone that owns this watch (or the SS white face) verify this for me? Is the dial off white? Or was this a visual trick due to lighting and the gold indices? Thanks for your help! Pic for attention!

On the website the TT and SS appear to have the same dial, but I don't think the SS would look as good with the cream dial. Hoping someone can confirm.

You're referring to the SS? Is the inner GMT dial a slightly whiter color?

There's a huge body of reference here on TRF, OP - have you cared to look into it using the search function? My understanding is, we are indeed dealing with an off-white here, with a metallic sheen, with a brighter white used for the GMT disk obviously.

I love that you say "obviously" when obviously it is tough for those of us that have never seen it. I apologize for offending you with this post. Next time I'll post the latest unfounded waiting list rumors that my AD told me.

I am fortunate in owning both. The TT white Sky Dweller is more white than cream but it is not as snow white as my Polar. I don't think anything beats a Polar for pure white. One thing I like about the white Sky Dweller is that the reference time disk is a more off white/silver. This provides the contrast necessary for me to easily read the 24 hour time. The black Sky Dweller (which I am also fortunate to own on SS) has no such contrast. The disk and dial are the same. Not difficult to read but I need to look a little bit harder. The blue SS dial also has slightly contrasting shades of blue. It is a beautiful dial. I actually prefer the black but if you really lust after the blue don't settle for anything else unless your affections have been converted. You'll only end up paying twice, although if you keep the white TT you will at least end up with two beautiful Sky Dwellers. Can't be bad - if you can justify it. (For some reasons my pictures have stopped displaying in Chrome. Looks OK in FF and IE. I will check settings).) |

Thanks! My SA referred to it as a "phantom watch". Longest List/Availability ratio of any watch they sell. I spoke with another AD today and they mentioned they have received 4 SS Skydwellers in the last three years total! Incredibly rare.

Main reason I chose white because of its unique shade. Sometimes white, off-white, silver, or ivory.
Nice contrast with lume too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

These are awesome pics and really show the difference in shade between the dial and the GMT wheel. Thanks for sharing!

The white seems like an amazing watch, and I am not sure you can go wrong with white vs. blue. I need to speak with my AD about the possibility of sourcing the white dial for MSRP. If it is white dial @ MSRP or Blue dial on the gray market that seems like an easy choice.

When you look very closely, the dial has a beautiful very fine granular silvery texture to it.
It's not white as in the classic white Rolex dial. The 24 hour sub dial is white in contrast |

That's awesome, thank you for the confirmation. I was 99% sure that I saw that on the TT model, but it is great to get some feedback on the SS model as well!

I love seeing them as well! It seems like the majority of the attention goes to the blue dial. Great to see these as well!
