OK I have a problem.........
I want to sell my GMT II in SS with black bezel.
I have torn the house upside down and cannot find the box or papers. I have found all the other boxes for every other Rollie and watch I have but not the papers for the GMT II. The watch is authentic I did have the box and papers but hell if I know where they are. Now my wife is mad because I asked her if she went through my big box of boxes and she automatically thinks I think she moved the box or misplaced it. It's a shame we had a good time in Vegas.... Anyway the watch came with a jubilee bracelet and I purchased a 2nd hand authentic SEL oyster bracelet for it. So what do I do? JL |

Seriously, this is one thing in which none of us can help you. There are guys out there who would buy an authentic Rolex without box and papers as long as they are 100% sure it's genuine. All you need is some kind of Certificate of Authentication from any AD certifying your watch to be the real McCoy and it will sell. Good luck - JJ

Agree with JJ the box is not that important, but papers perhaps a little more Even if you have to pay for Authentication, and intend to sell your watch,it would help in the sale IMO.

I agree, unless the watch is some vintage piece where the B&P might add significantly to the price watches are sold without all the time.
Grant the seller time to have it checked and all is well. |

The guys have given you good advice, John. But the threshold question is:
Why do you want to sell that beauty in the first place? We know CJ sold his ( ) but his only had the red/black bezel. No great loss there. But to sell an all black GMT. That's sacrilege.

It all depends on the buyer.
In my opinion,If the buyer wants a complete set, then the letter of Authenticity from an AD will not serve the purpose. The lack of original papers and box has in fact reduced the resale value of the watch . While you will find buyers who are willing to buy it without B+P , you would have got a better price had the same been present. Good luck with the sale. |

It should be no worries, John. I would buy a used watch without box and papers, especially if it were out of warranty It's a shame to see it go, but with you, I'm sure it's for something bigger and better.

When I thought I had lost my papers on a new Sub, the dealer told me he could get new paperwork from Rolex for $50. But, a few Hail Marys is never bad advice with or w/o the papers.
