Goodbye My Friends
I've owned virtually every Rolex of the past 30 years and have enjoyed them all. Nonetheless, I've decided to make the break. I just sold my Submariner at a profit, in approximately 5 minutes, and bought a new Omega Seamaster 300M. Rather than messing with the gray market, I purchased the Omega from an AD so I could eliminate any warranty ambiguity. This is a Rolex Forum so I'm not going to extol the virtues of my new Seamaster except to say that it is truly a wonderful timepiece that, as a one watch guy and former addicted collector, I'm going to enjoy thoroughly. This has been an excellent and helpful Forum and I thank all the members who've enhanced my understanding and enjoyment. Now it is on to Omega.

I thought about Daytona for a long time, but because of the waiting list, I took speedy, I realized also like omega, looking in the direction of their divers.

Interested to hear what you think about the Seamaster?
Personally I think it's a better all-round daily watch than a Sub. Unpopular opinion I'm sure. |

Both can coexist in a collection IMO however, since you’re a one watch guy I hope the Seamaster fits the bill

Just because you have an omega does not mean you can’t stick around. Folks may benefit from your perspective. At any rate, I too have found downsizing to be a good thing.

This is The Rolex Forums, but also so much more...
Just because you don't own one doesn't mean you cannot still engage and be a part of this great community. I mostly live in the Open Discussion these days, but the Omega sub is great too. Either way, hope you stick around.

A friendly FYI, there’s a great Omega sub-forum. Also, you don’t need to own a Rolex to enjoy the stories here, ymmv.

Every time I read these posts about simplifying, I envy the one watch guy.

Congrats on your new Seamaster! It always feels nice to simplify. I did a round this year and it feels great. I'm down to two watches both of which would be great by themselves. I'm definitely checking out quite a few Omegas as well. Nice to be able to get a watch you want pretty much right away and at a nice discount.

I agree the SM is a better all around watch than the Sub....except for that horrid awful Omega bracelet.
Fwiw I also sold 2 subs for a profit and bought a white 300 on rubber. I’m happy to not be part of the new Rolex Sub crowd. OMG is that a scratch!? |

Before you go, can you post some pictures of your Sub?

Like you, I made the switch. I have a Seamaster 300 (vintage re-edition) and classic Speedmaster. Really wonderful pieces. I also have a Panerai but, will inevitably return to Rolex at some point, so definitely not leaving this great forum!!

I love it when a veteran Rolex owner finds and experiences the greatness of Omega.
Wear that 300m in good health. It's an outstanding watch. |

Don't blame you. I preferred my 300s over my sub. Much more enjoyable dealing with Omegas because you can actually hold them and try them on! What an idea!

I'm done with Rolex as well. I just don't understand the craze & never will. Because of it, prices are insane. I don't blame Rolex. I blame the people who get caught up in the craze. And what really gets under my skin are those who buy them for investments. I just don't get it. It's a watch for crying out loud.
