SD43 question

Hopefully not a silly question, but I’m about to pick from an AD a 126600 SeaDweller. Never desired a watch the way I desire the SD43, however I wanted to check if any of the more recent timepieces (2019/2020 Mk II dials) have had the issues the earlier SD43s had (the 3235 apparently lacking oil in certain places, amplitude issues, and such). Any guidance on owner experiences would be much appreciated.

Thank you and stay well.

I have a 2 month old SD43 and it keeps perfect time. Don't worry about perceived or potential issues and enjoy this fantastic timepiece! I has a 5 year warranty.

Bought mine back in March and it has turned into my daily driver. Absolutely love this watch and it keeps perfect time. Only caution would be if you have smaller wrists as this is a big watch.

Bought mine November 2019, the more I wear this watch the more accurate it’s becoming.
When in rotation every 2 days or so the watch loses 2 seconds per day, when worn daily it’s les than a 2 seconds per week, insane.

Buy the watch, enjoy wearing the watch, its a great watch.

However, if you are unlucky and have a problem in the first 5 years then you have a warranty to deal with those issues.

Please remember that you are buying a mechanical timepiece so there is potential for something to go wrong, failures are few and far between but they can happen and that is what the warranty is there for.

Buy with confidence and enjoy owning a wonderful watch.

October 2019 for me, no issues.

Remember internet complaints generally exaggerate a problem.

Buy the watch and enjoy.

I got the first one my AD had when they were released. No issues. On a couple of occasions I though it was losing was losing time, but when I checked it against my iPhone or another digital clock it’s within in COSC.

Mine is September 2019 and still is at the top of my list, winning over Hulk, Sub Date 41 or Explorer 2 Polar.

Have said this one before, but the SD43 is the Diver I would have gotten years ago had it been an option. Rolex really got this one right IMO.

The issue has been reported here on this forum with a variety of the 32xx movements in different references from different years.

According to our tech expert (Bas) there is no permanent solution that Rolex has rolled out yet.

That said, I have confidence that Rolex will sort this out, and it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying any of my watches with the new movements

Photo of my pickup from yesterday.

It’s a beast And I love it :)

I own quite a few and this has such a great feel to it it’s so comfortable for a big watch. I know the red text is a minor detail but it makes a huge impression on me for this watch.

Kept time for me over 24 hours lol.

I really wouldn’t let the 32 movement issues bother you (own a couple and never had any issues myself) it can always be sent back to Rolex if you really have to.

SD43 is an awesome watch - absolutely love mine (2017 MK1). However, the most accurate Rolex I have is Datejust 36 from 2016 :)

The SD43 is (or rather 'was') as close to the "perfect watch" for me as I've ever managed to find. I've owned mine for 18 months, and apart from being an incredibly solid and beautiful looking piece, it was also incredibly accurate (+/-0.5 secs/day)....until very recently. A few weeks ago it started to lose a few seconds a day, and now it's losing circa 8 seconds a day.

I'm sure RSC will fix it, but without a permanent fix yet available, I'm going to be pretty much waiting for it to happen again.

But it clearly doesn't seem to affect every 3235 so with any luck you many be fine.

My brother has a MKI SD43 and he had to send his in for running slow a couple of time over the past 2 years. He confirmed it is running well now.

Owner of SD43 Mk1 since Oct 2018.

Incredibly accurate at +/-0.5 sec/day or near spot-on for the last 3wks plus (without watch stopping all this while), and I don't really wear it every hours, only for few hours per day and sometimes not wearing it at all for a day or two due to working from home arrangement. In fact, it's one of my most accurate watch I own :)

Pse do not be overly bother on the hearsay on the internet. You know Rolex will take care of it during its warranty period.

Buy with confidence if the watch is what you like.

OP, the SD43/SD43 TT is on my short list, but I will hold for right now. Frankly, I don’t want to have to take precious time to send my watch for warranty service. A positive outcome should never be in doubt.

Just wanted to remind everyone about those times when this watch was just released ... forum full of posts like oh 43 is too big, oh why cyclops, oh Rolex you ruined SD’s heritage ... this is just a large SubC.

Good to see this beautiful timepiece get the respect it deserves.
