People offloading black bay GMTs?

Just been having a trawl on c24 and there are 11 BB GMT in the UK alone up for sale from private sellers.

Looks like some might be offloading and wonder if it’s movement related? Shame such a nice piece but I’m still not confident in picking one up.

Looks like supply simply is ahead of demand. From the local AD's I visited (In the US), they all had GMTs on hand. No need to go private when you can readily pickup retail via an AD.

Or resellers trying to get their money back because they can’t sell above MSRP anymore.

There are just under 100 of them for sale on eBay right now. A mix of new and used, about 30/70.
Looking through the sold listings, most of the new ones have sold well under the $3900 MSRP.
A good indication of lower demand.

Both of my local ADs had BB GMTs in the case on Wednesday, in bracelet, strap, and leather. There was never much of a premium over MSRP on these anyway.

Yep. 3 dealers I visited. Sitting in case. Bracelet , nato, and leather options. One ad even had 2 bb58 blue on bracelet in case. I purchased one of them.

What a concept. You want to see a watch that interests you. You go to the store and take a test drive. If you like, you buy. What a satisfying concept.

Exactly....isn’t this the same thing we have all been asking for from Rolex. I don’t care about the value of my watches as they are not investments.

You won’t see my BBGMT for sale...ever

If that case back were flatter and the movement wasn’t a mess I’d be all in. Maybe it’ll see revisions in April.....

Hi Mark, what is the number in comparison to?

The 79830RB can be ordered online through an AD.

Look. It's received a lot of bad press for the date wheel issue, but I wouldn't let that keep you from picking one up, if you want one, that is.

If you sit around and read what all the "experts" here on TRF say, you might not ever buy a watch. You think Rolex hasn't had its problems? Just off the top of my head, I can direct your attention to the 3186 movement, the first-release DD40 issues, the tiny cyclops (lol), and now the 32-series troubles.

Full disclosure, my GMT had the issue. I took it in, my AD cheerfully sent it in for me, six weeks later I had a perfect watch. Literally perfect. I don't get all the attitude on here that if you have to send something in for a warranty repair, it's a defective product.

Really? Well, then there's a lot of 'defective' watches out there. Some of them with the name Rolex on the dial.

I think supply and demand are finally reaching balance. My AD, on occasion, has a BB GMT come in that is not spoken for but it is soon gone. I bought the first from my AD upon release and sold it when I got the WG BLRO because I thought it was too close. Not really, so I bought it back and had the date wheel issue on the second one. My AD took it back and gave me a new one and it has been perfect. I wear it on the OEM leather the most but it looks good on the NATO and the bracelet. I think some who own the watch are moving on and some just want their money back. Just my speculation.

Some have an issue with bracelet fitment, expect it to be a Rolex, case is a little to big ect.

For all the reasons people love some people don’t

I couldn’t get a good fit with the bracelet so moved on, but the fit and finish was great, kept good time too. The bezel was very nice. However ever private buyer that reached out said that they would be buying it as a hold over for a blro, which of course it’s not for better or for worse

Do you think there are many of them considering how many made? Do a simple search for subs, hulks, and daytonas. Hundreds and hundreds out there.

I think it's mainly people who had the date window issue dumping them. There's a surge right now but it will settle down over time. At my AD this past Monday they had a GMT on bracelet in the case. Probably the first time I've seen that since the watch was released. it's still a big seller but no longer a wait list item

I initially wanted one but there’s way too many reports about the date issue still being a thing.

Never heard of that in this part of the world.

Having said that, while mine also had a date issue, RSC took care of it and now it is running smoothly.

I love the watch for what it is.
