Incoming Surprise

Wanted to share what I got today, in less than 24 hours, my new Sub-No Date 41/2020 release.

I was by a jewelry shop that has also some vintage watches, it’s near where I get my Weekend FT copy, and decided to go in and take a look.

I had given my 2005 SS Sub to a nephew, as I didn’t wear as much (mostly summer weekends). It was in very, very good condition and I’m happy he got it.

Then, yesterday around 4pm, I was looking at this shop at a nice 1990 Sub No date and was quoted a better price than listin for $7,800. It was attractive and I liked the patina, but I don’t buy vintage Rolex usually, so I texted a much younger friend who knows my taste, collection and knows Rolex and understands research, value, etc. We both agreed price, etc. was ok, but he knows I am VIP at my AD....

I had asked them about a week ago to call me when they get a DD40 Everose, white romans, AD said sure will call you first. They always manage to allocate to me good pieces I want.

So my friend and I said: let’s email my AD...”Don’t you even have a Sub No Date for me?”
Within 15 mins or so he emailed me back: “We do have one of those, it’s yours if you want it”. So asked to please hold it, and went as soon as they opened today Sunday —-and it’s mine. Easy!

FYI, They had gotten me a Aquanaut 5167 in 7 months, a Pepsi in 10 days, a Daytona White in 6 months and others in collection (so on and so forth)... so this was the fast tool/or gold watch ever to get so quickly by just asking!

I do know they know I am not a flipper, and consistently buy from them as they allocate to me.

I have to say the no date, with it’s symmetrical dial, fits great, looks classic and yet has an “edge” for such classic! Here is a picture.

I am very fortunate and my collection is better now adding a Sub back to it.

Hope you all can get your favorites soon!

Cheers - Happy Passover or Easter if you observe one.

Thanks much to all on well wishes. I think the AD relationship I have is a fortunate one. No games, no stories, no deposits. True is they like people that are truly collectors and not people that want to make a profit only.

I am going to pick up a PP famous model in rose gold 😉 that I tried on when I went to pick up the Sub.... put it on hold....to think about it. But 99% I’m going for it. Unique opportunity . It’s truly beautiful.

Looks great and congrats!!
May I ask your wrist size? Trying to gauge how this would look on a 6.5” wrist. Thanks
