This may be my new daily - 124060
Up until now, I have always preferred Rolex GMT watches over the Sub. The GMTs sits much more comfortable on my wrist than the 11 series Sub with its thicker case back.
I was not sure when my AD would be call me and offering the new Sub. I have extensive history with this AD, however I was not going to fall for PM bundling games, yet. I had decided that I was done with this AD and buy the new Sub from one of the TS here. However, not sure of how it will fit, a couple of weeks ago I decided to swallow my pride and asked my AD to call me when they get a Sub. I was clear and upfront that I wanted to try one on and was not expecting that he would have one for me buy. Yesterday, the AD sent me a text to let me that he has a Sub reserved with my name on it and to come in and pick it up. We all know how that was going to end. I sized it myself this morning and it was ready to accompany me for some yard work by the evening. I have read reviews here that the 12 series fits better than the previous gen and that is absolutely true. This one just sits in the middle of my wrist and does not pull towards either side. It just fits and feels comfortable to wear all day. I am excited to get the Sub this time and I have to get used to not having a date window. But, the bezel can be used for date function as well. Here are pics of my new addition. |

I have a GMT Master 2 LN and would still buy this model sub if offered to me. It’s magnificent and in my opinion the best diver on the market.
The more proportioned lugs and finally, AR coating make it perfect. |

Thank you all... I never thought that a Sub would be that difficult to buy from an AD with established history. The times we live in. In the end, it was well worth the wait and I will enjoy this one for a long time.

Congrats! The regular Sub is an awesome design, although I am a bit biased... The 12-series fits your wrist perfectly.
Also, I see you are using a low strength threadlocker for the bracelet screws. I have not done this but this seems like a very good idea. I may have to copy this. |

Lovely! Am considering one myself. Interested to hear more about how the wear compares to the 11 series as objectively they are very similar? I don’t see a logical reason on why they should wear substantially different so interested to know! I have the same 11 series sub date and would end up with the same pair.

Congratulations. I always think it is funny that people need a date on a watch. Once you know the date the next day is the next number and so on. I also know what months have 30 or 31 days and I even know what year is leap year. On some watches I do like the look of a date but it is not necessary, for me.

Any difficulty resizing it? I keep wanting to resize my own watches but always chicken out.

If you are doing this for the first time, just put some tape around the bracelet screws to cover the link. This way if the screw driver slips, it will not scratch the link. Just be patient and gently try to unscrew it and make sure the bracelet is held steady while you are doing this. I have a small tool to help with that. The other trick to loosen the screw (sometime the screw gets stuck due to Loctite), is to slightly warm/heat the link to loosen the Loctite. I rather damage the screw/link myself than have the AD do it. I have had some bad experience in the past with AD messing up my brand new watch. Plus, it is easier to live with my own mistakes... |

Congrats! Looks great! And I agree, 12 series sits much better on the wrist :)

The 11 series SubC was the worse of all for me. The bulge of the case back, combined with 20mm bracelet just did not sit well on my wrist. Here are the reasons why I think the 12 series Sub feels more comfortable on my wrist: 1) Although the case thickness is perhaps less than 1mm between the 11 and 12 series, it seems to make a big difference when I combine the following subtle changes. 2) The 21mm bracelet provides wider support to the case and shifts the center of gravity more proportionally. The case does not bobble like the 11 series. 3) The bracelet claps is longer than the 11 series. For my less then 6.75 inch wrist, it sits right in the middle and cover most of my lower side of the wrist. Talk about perfect fit! I am not sure if the claps is more curved than the 11 series or not. Something I will look into. 4) I sized the bracelet like I do with my GMT IIC bracelets. Six links on 12 o'clock and four on 6 o'clock. The half links attached the claps stays. 5) I wanted a SubC all along. When the AD offered the Sub via text, a year or year-and-a-half ago, I though it was the one I asked for. Well, turned out it was SubC date. Anyways, I bought it with the intention of swapping it when the one I wanted came in. Other watches took priority. In summary, I am in the honeymoon phase at this time with this new watch. |
