Collection status & thoughts

Hi all,

Sharing my collection & looking for thoughts / opinions.
I started looking at Rolex watches in 2016 but only got serious about contacting ADs in the second half of 2019. So I am quite new to the hobby and I think I went too quick down the rabbit hole.
So much that I am thinking to downsize it to 3 pieces - LV, BLRO, BLNR.
I think for me less is more and 3/4 pieces would be the ideal number.
I have hardly worn the DJ, CHNR and my black Sub has not seen much wrist time since I got the two steel GMTs.

So I am planning to downsize first and then look to add another piece.

I love the professional models and want to add a SS Daytona but my ADs are not giving me much hope. DD40 RG Olive dial is another one I like.
I also like the AP 38mm chrono white/blue dial.

I know it’s a matter of personal taste, but still would like to hear your thoughts.
- which 3 pieces you will keep from the current line up
- which will be the 4th piece to add

I'm more impressed by how you got all the sports model from the 2nd half of 2019 onwards. Realistically if your AD is willing to sell you all those with one DJ purchase, try persuading him/her for a Daytona.

I'd take it down to 3 and an AP into the mix

1. REMOVE - Get rid of the Batman, Root Beer, and black Sub.

2. ADD - Get the AP you really want.

I personally would keep the Pepsi and Hulk, get a Polar Exp 2 to add a white dial, and add a Speedy 321 as your chrono in place of the Daytona.

You’re GMT heavy so get rid of one and go for Sky Dweller or DD. DD Can be similar to th DJ so would lean towards the SD. But a. Blue Royal Oak is another perfect addition.

Great collection for less than 2 yrs!!

I’d ditch two of the three on the right for something in a white dial.

I worked with 3 ADs in 3 different countries.
The chase is/was fun.
I am trying to persuade two of them for a Daytona but I don’t have high hopes.

Thanks!
I should have written that I have 6.5 inches wrist.
I have tried SD twice and it sits too big/too thick on my wrist. As much as I like it, I think it is a no go for me.

DD fits nicely and I like the heft of it.
From AP I am looking at 15450st and 26315st.

That’s great! Hmm… initially I thought you had consolidated all purchases with 1 AD. In that case I would recommend branching out to AP then. If you are after a panda 38mm chornograph it should be doable but still has a waitlist up to a year.

Good luck! It’s an amazing collection!

Everything becomes clear in time

Lot of jubilee and gmt cross over. You could conceivably ditch all but 1 gmt and the datejust and add something full gold maybe even non sports like a calatrava, 1918 ALS or Saxonia. Or go the AP route.

I’d keep the Sub ND as a beater, plus the Hulk and Pepsi as flexing pieces. After that, I think I’d try to choose a watch which reflected my personality more than the usual hype-train pieces. You mentioned an AP - that’s the sort direction I’d go in if it were me.

I’d take it right down to two pieces, LVC and BLRO. The. I’d use the funds from the others to buy the Daytona on the gray

Thanks!

I was offered the 38mm chrono first in grey, then in white. Though for a couple of days on the white one. I passed on as I could not justify 30k price tag. It's a psychological than financial barrier.
Also, because of Covid never got the chance to see it in real life.
I still think it's one of the most beautiful watches out there, so I asked to be informed when a new piece arrives. Hopefully the second time I could go and see it.

I tried the Polar Exp 2 but for some reason it did not sync with me. The white dial was not as impressive, as on the photos.
It has to be another white dial.

I have seen then new speedmaster, it's very nice and definitely an option for a chrono.

Sell the DJ, Rootbeer, and Batman, buy any Daytona. Sounds like you are still in the rabbit hole and are trying to dig yourself out....digging gets you deeper

I would only keep black Sub ND and Datejust.
Then buy the AP you want.
And stay off Instagram

Stop messing around, you're not in it for the watches, you're in it for the chase.
They're not even the starter at dinner, they're like the drink you have before you order.

Sell the lot and go after a 5711, a jumbo and a Platona.
Go big or go home, you'll end up chasing those anyway, so save yourself some time and go after them now.

Congrats on the acquisitions.

I would only keep the BLRO and one of the subs (your choice), buy a daytona at an AD (if possible) or gray, then venture out to other brands.

I know this hobby is all personal preference, but your collection is looking a bit uninspired, almost meme status these days.

Keep the CHNR ilo the BLRO or BLNR. Keep the Sub ilo the LV. Pick up the Speedy while you wait for the white dial Daytona to arrive.

Or, you can just trade in the Hulk and BLRO for a Daytona from one of the dealers here start enjoying your "new" collection ASAP.

Not much of a decision - have to keep the Pepsi, Batgirl and Hulk. Need to find a way to add a Blue SS SkyDweller or a SS Daytona, or a WG Daytona OF

I’m in agreement with many here. Based on your wearing pattern, I’d keep the Pepsi and Hulk and add the AP. That collection would cover a lot of bases.

Finances aside, never sell/trade a Rolex. Put the ones you’re wearing a side and add a couple from another brand. Try a few Panerai on and see what you think. I think they’re a perfect complement to Rolex.

Judging from way you amassed your collection, your ability to persuade is top notch. Frankly I would start going after Pateks next. You are ready for that.

Nevertheless, to address your question, I would keep LV, BLRO, BLNR. When the time is right, maybe exchange the BLNR jubilee with the BLNR oyster.

Congrats for having such a nice collection. I will keep the Hulk and Pepsi, and then add the 26315 white/blue, followed by a watch with complications, like the 5205.

I’d keep the CHNR, BLRO and Hulk. I’d probably at a platinum day-date or the RO
