Thinking about a Pelagos...others to consider?

Hi all. So...I'm considering a Pelagos and want to make sure that I'm not too narrow in my focus. What would you consider to be similar watches to the Pelagos that I should also dig into?

I agree that the Seamaster is a great diver in the same price range.
SS vs Titanium. I tend to lean towards the Pelagos.

Would second the SMP. Used planet oceans, as well.

I’ve owned all of them and love my Pelagos more than the SMP or POs, though. I have the blue and love wearing it on the rubber strap as a beach/pool watch in the summer.

Love the Pelagos! Especially the LHD variant!

Other deep divers in the same price range to consider include the Oris Prodiver

And from Sinn

The EZM 2b

SMP wears better than the Pelagos, IMO.

I think the Pelagos looks cool. Need a Rolex Sub or Deep Sea or Seadweller too.

I prefer the SM300 and BB58 to the Pelagos and have owned all 3

Pelagos would still be my choice over the watches mentioned above!

Seamaster Diver 300 would be my choice. I like the Pelagos A LOT, but scratchy-scratchy grade 2 titanium puts me off. Plus it's worth noting that RSC will not refinish the case on a Pelagos ; something to do with titanium clogging their finishing tools or such like. Whatever the reason, the result is the same - no case refinishing.

Hi! Take a look at the newly released TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 WBP208B.BF0631. It's a slimmed down alternative but it's not better than the Pelagos in specifications (non COSC certified model, lower power reserve, lower water resistance) and price (higher RRP). The Pelagos represents unbeatable performance for the money.

That’s news to me....I’ve had mine for a month and worn it everyday....I am careful with it but have been swimming the lake with it and to my knowledge I have not banged it on anything, it’s still scratch free...... except for the ones my AD made on the inside of the back of the lugs changing the watch to the rubber b

I have no personal ownership experience of the Pelagos, but I've owned a couple of grade 2 titanium Breitlings in the past and they scratched unbelievably easily, so personally I won't touch grade 2 watches again. Grade 5 is much better IMO as it's much harder, but for some reason Tudor (and Breitling) insist on using grade 2.

As someone who pulled the trigger on the pelagos, pull the trigger on the pelagos :p

Honestly... while I do have a sub, the titanium finish provides a nice distinct difference that I think another steel diver wouldn't. I just love the utilitarian design of the pelagos and all matte color.

Another vote for the SMP 300 and in particular the Tokyo 2020 Olympic white/blue version while you can still get it! I've had the blue pelagos a couple of times, also various versions of the SMP 300. The latest version in the colorway mentioned sort of blends both looks for me. And the SMP feels better on wrist (less thick) to me while also having the steel sheen (can't connect with the duller look of titatium, even on my snowflake). Good luck!

I love my Pelagos. I’ve had it several years and love wearing it. I have the black one and I’ve been thinking about picking up the blue face as well.

If your looking for a tool watch that flys under the radar Pelagos all the way
If you want Jewelry and bling factor SMP. Just my 2 cents.

If you like the Pelagos I suggest you go for it . I have the LHD and I love that watch , super comfortable, super accurate, and titanium case is gorgeous. Any iteration of that watch is a winner with me . Good luck and I hope you enjoy whichever watch you decide on .

Within the first week of having my Pelagos, I removed the bracelet and was walking to the garage to get something. Dropped my Pelagos and dinged a lug. But no scratches anywhere. Stoke was high.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been wearing a tiger eye bracelet on the same wrist. Fine, hairline scratches all over the side. I’ll post a picture tomorrow. I was surprised. Thought it was just smudges or something. Nope.

I was thinking about a Pelagos, but figured it was a bit too close to my Seiko Marinemaster 300 -in the sense that they are both are "tool watches". Not too much bling, adjustable clasp, superb lume, legible dial.... Marinemaster has a unique case (monocoque caseback), drilled lugs, though.

In that price range, I find the BB58 or BB 41mm a far better looking choice over the Pelagos.

The Omega Seamaster 300 is a viable competitor as well.

If you’re looking at the Pelagos, it suggests you like the tool-diver look. I think it’s probably one of the best options in that category. Grade 2 Ti does scratch easily, but the scratches tend to fade or blur with time.

If you’re really averse to scratches, there’s always the ceramic Black Bay.
