Service estimate
Well, as you all know I got a previously enjoyed 14060 and its fifteen years old.
So I finally got it and decided to check for authenticity, and it is indeed a genuine rolex So now I got the estimate from Rolex Canada. It blew me away to be honest since I didn't think it would cost this much... but hey life happens. The seals are no longer effective hence there was water damage to the watch so the dial itself has some evidence of water damage and so does the hands. I personally couldn't tell about the dial, but the hands, the second hand did seem a bit weird. It will require new crown tube and crown as its already worn out due to normaly wear. The clasp hinge is also ready to go so they cannot guarantee it. The movement needs servicing since the oil and lubricants have dried up! I can't believe it is still running... and without telling RSC about how it was running, they did say that it was running fast, which I agree on. since I'm getting a new dial and hands (trade in), might as well get a new bezel insert! It will cost me $1334.94 after all is said and done. Well for sure I'll be taking care of this after I receive it... I have to say one thing though, the movement is bullet proof! Anyway I authorized the service. |

I agree with Pete, that's a chunk of change, but your watch will like new.

Update...
I called RSC in Toronto and my watch is currently being polished. I thought the polishing are done by one person, but apparently, there is a department in RSC for polishing!
Cool, watchmaker specializes on the movement while the craftsman does the elbow grease work on the case and bracelet. |

Is it just me or is there something more exotic about a vintage rolex that goes off to the spa and comes back as new vs buying a brand new one?
I just feel more envious seeing pics and hearing stories of vintage watches that are like new vs a brand new pic of a brand new watch |

I like that too Your watch getting all cleaned up and sent back ready to go again. It just seems like it would mean alot more to you rather than a new watch with no sentiments attached
