Speculating about a Tudor Pelagos 10yr Anniversary Update 2022

The Pelagos was released back in 2012, had a minor update 3 years later in 2015 with a new movement and blue dial variant, and in 2016 the LHD numbered edition was released. Recently Tudor announced a partnership with the French Navy sparking frenzied speculation that they are about to release a new Marine National variant of one of their divers. I am a huge fan of the Pelagos having owned my 2-liner with the ETA 2824 movement since 2015 and given the upcoming anniversary and recently announced partnership I’m wondering if we are about to see a revamp of the Pelagos line next year. Personally speaking I think the Pelagos is close to perfection but if they do these are my thoughts on what they should and shouldn’t do;

Do’s

- Half links for the bracelet to improve sizing of the watch for all. I like my bracelet and clasps to be central on
- Another couple of fixed micro adjustment in the clasp to give greater variety of fits. - Personally speaking using the spring adjustment is great over clothing but is just a little to tight for skin which makes since because its supposed application is for use over a wet suit.
- Reduce amount of text on the dial and rear of the case. Personally speaking I want watch dial and case back to be as clean and sterile as possible.
- Use ceramic for the dial similar to that of Omega applications. The only reason I have resisted getting a Pelagos Blue is because in certain light the dial and bezel looks different in colour hue. A ceramic application would solve this and potentially give more
- Fix the lume plots from falling out of the bezel. This has happened to me but thankfully Tudor did fix this quickly but further down the line when the model is not serviceable there is going to be some funky Pelagos bezels out there.
- Alignment of the Tudor shield on the crown. I want perfection I know :)

Don’ts

- Don’t change the size or shape or weight of the case or the bracelet. For me it fits like a charm.
- No shiny polished bits. Keep it matte. Make it more matte :)
- Do not make it in Steal or any other material. Titanium is where its at.
- Branded special editions. I do not want to see MN (marine national) on the dial or case back. Stay away from Omega type special editions.

Maybe’s

- More colour variants. If they used ceramic on the dial there is no reason this can’t happen. Maybe a khaki dialled Pelagos. Now we are talking.
- Different complications. A GMT, Chrono, or Day Date complications. Personally I would love to see a no-date version.
- A pelagos dark version. I’d love a matte PVD of the Pelagos

Just having a bit of fun. Also it’s not a post without pics so here are some of my 2-liner :)

Hard to improve on the two-line Pelagos. Now tell me about that camo strap!

Very true. Camo strap is the one from Tudor Ranger.

Other than another interesting color, I'd be hard pressed to think what improvements could be made to this iconic reference. It would be nice to have a 10 year anniversary specific reference.

Reference in 40mm with 20mm bracelet + raised crystal would be nice.

Remove goofy dots on clasp.

To be honest the only thing I think the Pelagos needs is for it to made of grade 5 titanium (or steel… sorry guys!) instead of grade 2. I’ve had a couple of grade 2 watches in the past and I always found them to be very scratch-happy. G5 has all the benefits of G2, but much harder.

Apart from that I think it’s hard to improve.

Thanks That flashlight is a titanium Maratac, nothing real fancy but I really like dumping a AAA in the trash and popping in a new one over messing with tiny chargers and batteries.

Cheers pal. The other strap is the one from the original Tudor Black-bay Bronze. Lovely thick Tudor nato. It is 23mm but fits the Pelagos very nicely.

Always liked the raised crystal on the old ceramic 40mm SD4K. Great thought :)

I would be extremely interested in a Pelagos GMT. Particularly if it was in some atypical color scheme...

39mm Pelagos version in SS is coming with the next update. I may be wrong, but I did assume the Sub moving to 21mm bracelet to match the SD43 and Tudor BB. Some things seem high probability based on market trends. A SS Pelagos would sell like hot cakes. Imo the only reason it is not currently is so it doesn’t erode Black Bay sales.

Pictures from another forum. Basically it’s a smaller no date MN Pelagos with fixed springbars. Hoping they release a standard one with the bracelet.
