Explorer II accuracy after 3 years of daily wear
Thought this might be an interesting data point. I've noticed my Explorer II 216570 has been running quite a bit faster of late so I took it into my local watchmaker to chuck it on a timegrapher and see what's going on.
For some background, I wear it pretty much daily and have done since I bought it new 3 years ago. I don't take it off doing sports, and wear it hiking, skiing, paddling, whatever I'm doing; the exception being downhill MTBing, even on a nato strap the watch is just too large and heavy to be comfortable. It's definitely taken a few big knocks over the years on my wrist so I'm not surprised it's in need of a regulation. New, I was seeing about +0.5s-1s a day. 3 years on, I'm seeing an average of +5-6 a day. On the timegrapher, it's +3s dial up, +3 on the side crown down, and +7 on the side crown up. At varying angles that simulate more "normal" conditions it's anywhere from +3 to +7. Still very happy with my purchase and amazed at how accurate modern mechanical timepieces are even when you treat them like a g-shock. |

What a great picture!
I bought mine in 2016 for around 6k. Was the best watch purchase I've ever made. I've used mine hard i.e. multi day kayaking trips down the Missouri, skiing the Rockies, mountain biking the Mah De Hay trail, etc. and I was also wearing it the day my son was born. It's not going anywhere and I will pass it on to my boy some day.

Kick ass! The best watch ever made. One of these days I need to add the polar to go with my black dial. I love that they can be worn for pretty much anything without issue. Then you go home, shower and go out somewhere nice and it looks just as good.
