Explanation for these chamfers?

Hi guys,

The chamfers on the 1 o’clock lug on my Submariner 11460 looks a little different from the chamfers on the other lugs - it looks like the beveled edge spills over on to the top, brushed section of the lugs, almost like someone tried to (quite poorly) construct chamfers after the original ones were polished away.

Not knowing how watches are polished, I’m having a hard time imagining how the chamfers would end up looking like this. A friend mentioned that because the 1 o’clock lug is exposed more so than the other lugs, the lug could have been scraped on an abrasive surface.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Just curious.
