Bluesy Or No-Date Sub?

I have recently been able to obtain two submariners at retail. one is a no-date submariner (124060) and a Bluesy (126613LB). I have no other watches in my collection, and I can only choose 1 of these watches. I know it all comes down to personal preference, but I would like to know what other people would choose.

I really like the Bluesy, it looks stunning in person but since it would be my only watch I am worried that it might not be as good of a daily watch as the no-date sub. I am really torn between the two watches as they are both great options.

I have the 124060 and a Hulk but personally can’t stand the Bluesy so you know where I’m going with this. Also, Bluesy should be easier to reacquire than the Sub ND.

If you are worried that it's not as good of a daily watch as the Sub then sell the Bluesy.

124060 is perfect for a daily wearer, if I could only have one Rolex to keep that would be the one.

Whatever works...the bluesy to me is a beach/fun/left field watch that doesn't adopt to everything and doesn't apologize for it. The 124060 on the other hand is the one that does work for everything with a hint of adventure. While I agree in a pure formal sense it wouldn't work, it's the 21st century and who cares really. It's a Rolex, it's bold, anybody can wear it proudly.
A two tone can be a bit challenging (I love it, don't own one but it's on the radar...).

I have a Black “No Date” … I consider it the staple of my collection.

I am on a “Wish List”, at my AD, for the Bluesy.

LOVE them both, but if I could only own one, it would be the Black Submariner.

The Black is more versatile, and can be worn to more occasions.

Every collection should have a Black Dial watch, IMO.

As a one watch collection, no date sub for sure

But there's no such thing as a one watch collection Once you sell the 126613lb you will miss how beautiful it is.

One is gold with a stunning dial, the other is a bland, tired Seiko replica with an utterly ubiquitous look.

“Stunning” dial that looks like a cheap Bulova watch.

If it’s a one-watch collection, go with the steel Submariner. With that said, I agree with some of the other comments in here on the Sub’s ubiquity — I was in the Caribbean for about a week recently and must have seen upwards of 100 Submariners/Submariner Dates during that time. On the one hand, there’s a reason the Sub is so popular (i.e., it’s a beautiful watch). On the other hand, seeing it everywhere has detracted a bit from the passion I hold for the reference.

In a collection of more than one watch, I’d go with the Bluesy.

Get the one you like better 1st. And get the 2nd choice later. Best of both worlds lol. Was in the market for a Submariner I ultimately went with a Hulk over the black dial because I found it the black dial boring, but if I were to add another Sub it would be a no date sub.

Bluesy Or No-Date Sub?

Easy decision for me.

ND sub is really a perfect watch for a one watch collection. Dresses up or down. Steel and black is classic and versatile. An icon.

I know the Bluesy has a lot of fans, but I’ve turned it down on more than one occasion. Just not my style.

Bluesy Or No-Date Sub?

My first Rolex was a no date sub, which I still own. To be honest, if I could go back, I would probably have purchased the date since I use the date feature often. I recently purchased a Bluesy and it is unapologetically bold.

If you cannot wear something so bold in a daily setting and really want one watch, get the black sub. Personally, I would own both. As an aside, I would love to purchase a regular sub with date and keep the no-date sub as well.

124060 is the clear choice. There is only one Submariner, the rest have date complications.

No date! I bought my no date after 2 years of having only the bluesy.

Tbh, can’t go grown with either. But the ND flies under the radar a bit more whereas the bluesy is a bit more in your face. That was my reason for getting the Nd and selling my bluesy.

Don’t inject too much intellect into a decision that’s almost purely emotional. Only way to go in my mind is to get the one that makes you smile more

Anything can be a daily wearer imo, it might feel weird wearing a two-tone or gold watch every day but if you wear it with confidence nobody is gonna care. The black sub might be more preferred for daily wear but at the end of the day it's boring (in my opinion).

Just get what you like best, I have a 116613 and it's amazing.

If you're trying to fly under the radar then no date sub. If you want something that brings you joy every time you look at it then Bluesy.

Anything can be a daily wearer as stated it depends if you're afraid of the watch wearing you.

It would be a easy choice for me, the ND sub. I have absolutely no intrest in the bluesy. If you can't live without a date I would wait on a Sub date. But the ND sub is a really nice and clean look. It. Would be my choice from Rolex.

I have both. I wear my Bluesy way more and find the ND quite boring after a few days wear.

If only one watch, I’d go with the 124060, but I think you have options.

If you have budget constraints, another option could be the Bluesy and then you could spend $500 on a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical.

I love the Bluesy but it’s not an ideal watch if it’s your only watch. Sometimes you’ll need (or want) to tone things down a bit…My 2 cents…
