Those photos aren’t good enough quality for anyone here to give you a stamp of approval. Why not purchase from the sales section here? A birth year watch isn’t what you think it is and it narrows your pool of good watches needlessly. The case could have been made in 1983, the bracelet in 82, the movement well before that, who knows, and all sold in 1986. If I wanted a nice gloss dial 16750, I’d look for one here, and I wouldn’t hamper my search with extra restrictions.

With all of the information about this reference available right on this site, become your own expert. Right here you can easily learn all you need to know to make an informed purchase.

I can't comment on the specifics of that watch - you'll need someone like 'springer' to tell you what's correct and/or what's not.

I have dealt with Giles Waite before though - and he's sound and very knowledgeable.

Good luck

The GMT master booklet is wrong for that date range? If so, then you would have to assume its a cobbled together lot and not what it seems.

Insert is a replacement.

There isn't much correct here. Wrong box set, wrong booklets and a service dial. Move on and find a reputable seller - someone that doesn't sell cobbled together sets and incorrectly identified dials as being original.

If I might make a suggestion, you'll have much more luck finding a nice GMT if you forget the dealer "birth year watch" hype.

My advice would be to get yourself a nice late model 16710. There are plenty around and are priced at a similar level to the 16750s. They feel a lot more robust on the wrist although you do lose that acrylic charm. A 16710 will also likely be more reliable and easier to service/maintain. Perhaps in the future when you have had the time to build-up your knowledge you can take another look at the vintage models. Good luck with your search.

Thankyou!

Blimey guys thankyou.

A pure wealth of knowledge, which was why I needed to ask.
He's supposed to be reputable in the UK but if its cobbled together clearly not.
Can anyone recommend a particular 16710 in the UK? I'd ideally like full set.
Also happy I guess to lose year of birth.
Just love the vintage charm, stories they tell etc.

Many many thanks for your time though. Very much appreciated!!

Agreed as above, it’s a real mixture of parts. Very disappointing as I have bought from and sold to Watches of Distinction and their reputation until this point has been great. OP, keep looking and when you find something else post it here. I would trust Springer implicitly, his knowledge is unquestionable. Don’t settle for a model you don’t want. They are out there.

I'm disappointed too as they are normally spot on.

As you say (write) Springer is the man for GMTs.

Thanks.
I have to say though they weren't very helpful. He answered what he had to and that was that. He did give me 24 hrs to sort finance and research but move I looked more issues I found. Asked him more and he just asked did I want bank details.

It's 15k does he seriously not expect a few questions to have to answer.

Any good decent ones any has seen or can recomend?

So pleased I found you guys.
A guy flywatch on insta said you were the boys.

Thanks

Ps love the 5513 to.

Sadly it’s the state of play right now. Too many couldn’t care less for the details and will buy anything.

Yup it's a big buy so they should expect questions.

I'd reconsider that requirement too, to open up your options. It needlessly cuts out a large percentage of the solid examples available.

Box and papers just sit in a closet, taking up space and gathering dust. Very unnecessary unless you're a dealer/flipper looking to make money from re-selling it.

Good luck with your journey - and it is a journey.
