Thinking of buying a Submariner
I got rid of my 114060 because it was kind of large and bulky looking on my svelte waif-like wrists. But nothing I've gotten since then, be it Omega, Tudor, and some not-quite-micro brands have done it for me, either in comfort or looks.
All I've got now is my Tudor BB58 in blue, on a bracelet, which is great and fits me well. But the bracelet isn't quite at Oyster level, and I'm not crazy about straps. I keep coming back to the roughly $5K delta between the Rolex and Tudor, and it just seems kind of silly to pay all of that money. Yeah, I know, several years ago I had multiple Rolexes including PM, and it didn't bother me. Am I getting older? Thoughts, opinions, comments?

Just picked up a new 41mm Sub Date this weekend. Wears NOTHING like my prior 6 digit. I had a bluesy that I sold because it was just to heavy for me and the super case was just too much. This one sits better, is better balanced and just is so much more comfortable. Also, as much as I've tried with Omega, I still come back to nothing feels like a Rolex!

For me, it wears bigger than my Hulk. Enough to irritate me a bit.

I’d suggest getting an older 4/5 digit sub that’s in “used” condition both to keep the cost down and allow you to wear it without being scared of devaluing due to condition.
They tend to work better on smaller wrists and even though the premium over the Tudor will still be there over the long term value should hold/appreciate more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Why force yourself? Tudor BB58 is the best for smaller wrist and you already have the Blue so rejoice and order the Black! Or you can look at the 5-digit Sub.

The extra $5k buys you, perhaps, a marginally better watch with a slightly nicer bracelet and more "flex" as the kids would say, but that's also almost another whole other luxury watch by itself.

5 digit sub is going to fit the best, especially if you thought the 40mm 114060 was too big. I have the BB58 and it wears much much smaller than the new sub.

40mm Ceramic Sub is your friend (or in this case it was). Tudor BB58 checks all of the boxes you are looking for...but it does not say the world 'Rolex' on the dial (which is a stigma for many). The BB58 is a great watch for those whom already have a sub (can treat it as your grab n go piece). 5 digit sub is also a great option but harder to flip in case you fall out of love with it. Just my 2 pennies.
Have owned the 11610LN, BB58 and the 16800.....40mm Sub is far down best compromise if you want something that exudes Rolex quality. But 'apples to apples' BB58 hands down blows the no-date sub out of the water for sure. |

The Sub 41 is the best daily wear watch made today.. IMO. I also have 7.5" wrists, so I see why you may struggle with it. I'd suggest looking at the 39mm Explorer that has been disco'd.

If you preferred smaller size, go for Explorer I.

12 series are only 0.3mm larger in diameter but thinner lugs and thinner height make a huge difference in wearability. Try it on a grey or an AD with exhibition only models, you will like it.

I too bought, fell in love with and quickly fell out with a BB58 blue. I know its against popular opinion on here but the watch is good, just not Submariner good.

Go for a 16610. You won’t regret it.

I find the 124060 to wear larger with the roomier dial, longer lugs, and wider bracelet / clasp.

I have the 114060 with relatively small wrists at 6.5 inches, but flat wrists. Love the 114060 and find it fits well, but definitely couldn't go larger than this. It can feel slightly chunky at times but this is a dive watch, and I find the visual proportions look great and it's not large looking. It's difficult to find a slim and lightweight wearing dive watch because that's not what they're designed to be, if that's the look you're after maybe something on the dressier side would work. Maybe even a chrono but those tend to also be thicker because of the movement and with larger dials for timing things with good legibility. Also the moderns Subs are some of the slimmest modern dive watches on the market, check out Omega and GS both with thicker offerings. The only way to find something smaller is to go vintage or to buy a vintage reissue from a brand like Oris for example. |
