Another question about waiting lists

Hello again to the forum

I’m very sorry if this was already debated but when a Patek Boutique (in this case the one in Paris) agrees to put your name in a waiting list for a certain model (the model being a 5205-013 and I’ve no purchase history apart servicing a couple of pateks bought on the grey market) are you suppose to receive a confirmation by email or something? I know that’s what Rolex did with me in an AD.

If someone cares to share their experiences regarding this subject I would be grateful :)

Wait lists can be fake or real.

For the 5205, it is not a high demand watch like a SS sports model, so when the Paris Salon receive one, you will receive a call.

When you pick up your 5205, ask if they still offer a free service on the watch when it comes time for a service and if you still own the watch at that time.

I don’t believe waiting lists get email confirmation. At least that never was my experience with any brand.

Is this like an unspoken role, to get your first service free?

It is a great indirect way to verify if the person kept the watch or sold it right away to make money. :) Who would not jump on a free service of his watch?

With Rolex they did send me an email confirming my name was on the waiting list for a deep sea. It was an AD in Lisbon

Thanks everyone for your replies :)

AP took my information, never sent me a confirmation and delivered the requested piece

PP took my information, never sent me a confirmation and delivered the requested piece

Rolex took my information, asked for my business card and got it, asked me to fill an expression of interest form and never delivered until today

Big difference in the experience

With AP, I didn’t check few times and verified that the boutique list is real and the my information was really saved.

With PP, the allocations and customers pool are so small and manageable that the list can easily be memorized by the SA

With Rolex, the experience was really not as good as AP or PP. I don’t even know if the list is real

But I am not holding my breath that Rolex will actually allocate me a Daytona. I already have a:
Patek Philippe 5170G, speedmaster professional and Baume and Mercier cliffton to cover my chronos. So will see

Supposedly this is only at the official Patek-owned Salons, since they have their own Patek watchmakers doing the servicing.

This is some really good info. I will try this for my first Salons purchase. Thanks!

The 5205-0013 is a great stand alone piece. It can be had from AD/boutique. It's also a great 'starter piece' if you plan on adding more PP in the future.

Errrm me maybe? It’s been 3 years since I bought my 5711 and I’ve not taken advantage of the free service I got from the boutique because the watch is literally unworn. The rocketing prices have deterred me from wearing it.

A Patek service resets the warranty. So some people send it in for servicing if it is free even if the watch has been hardly worn.

I went into a Patek AD about a year ago.
They put me on a waitlist for a 5167a.
I did not get any email, but they did laugh when I left the store.

In my case they waited till I left to laugh.

I walked back in with a follow up question to find one of them laughing and the other saying 5167 in between fits of laughter.

Well, my AD here in Hong Kong say that many people come in, not knowing the model number or the name ....

"Can I put my name on *that* watch? You know, *that* one that everybody really likes?"

Roll eyes ....

May be a sign of irrational exuberance in the watch industry…
