Incoming! Poor Man’s Day Date

Just got news that my Tudor Prince Date Day (date day just does not roll off the tongue as easily as day date!) reference 76214 with linen, or rather Mosaic (thanks for the correction, Adam!) dial. Looking forward to seeing the WG fluted bezel dazzle the light. It will be my smallest case yet at 36mm. I’m told that it is actually the same case as older Datejusts. Can anyone verify? If so, which DJ reference? Wondering because I’d like to explore alternative bracelet options.

Hopefully this will scratch the itch until a DD40 can become a reality.

Very nice. It is a Datejust mid-case. but I forget which one...from the 1990s anyway. You can still get these new in HK, and it's the only way of buying a new Oyster mid-case with lug holes. The bracelets are really comfortable, too. Wait till you try it on before looking for a Jubilee or Oyster, because I find it to be more comfortable than either.

Tudor calls that a Mosaic dial, by the way.

I have the TT version, imported from Hong Kong a couple months ago, and loooooove it. Very much the equivalent of a 90's DJ with the stamped steel end pieces and lug holes all the way through the case. The largest discernible differences to me are the flatter case back (due to the shallower ETA movement) and a crown that's not as deep as the Rolex version (and therefore a little hard to grip).

FYI, this movement has a relatively short 38 hour power reserve. Despite giving the crown a good 30 turns before setting and wearing, I wasn't able to swap out with my 1601 Datejust for a day and find the Tudor still running as I was only getting 23 hours or so run time. Performance was very steady at +4 per day. However, once I started putting it on the winder when wearing my DJ, I'm getting close to the listed run time and performance has improved to around +1 per day.

These watches are a huge bargain for the money. I can kinda understand why Rolex isn't selling them in the US.

Beautiful, Congrats.

I nearly asked to be put on a wait list at Selfridges London few weeks ago but decided to just keep on waiting for what I want.

Incoming! Poor Man’s Day Date

Congratulations on a beautiful watch! I'm quite fond of my Tudor Day Date Royal 41. I prefer it to either Rolex Day Date I've owned.

Agree 100% with Peter - there is nothing "poor" about this watch. Congratulations and wear it in the best of health.

Nice looking watch, and with that unique dial, when/if you get the Rolex DD you can keep the Tudor DD, as it will likely be different from what you will be getting on the Rolex!

That’s a gorgeous piece Lee,
Very similar to a Zenith I was looking at but dial was MOP and diamond chips on leather,,,

Thanks, everyone! The title was meant to be somewhat tongue in cheek. This will be my 3rd Tudor and I am very happy with the two I have thus far. Tudor stands on its own!

I’ll update this thread when I have this baby in hand (or on wrist, rather)!
