Deepsea 126660 - Warranty Card confusion
Hello there,
Very new to the forum, so apologies if I'm asking something that has been asked before! I just acquired a Rolex Deepsea "James Cameron" - 126660, so we are talking about mk2. For what I understand, it has been officially released around mid-2018. The watch came with its original warranty card. The serial number on the card matches the serial on the watch. My question is related to the original purchase date handwritten on the card, which shows 2017. The seller said that it is normal that a Rolex is purchased some time before its release, therefore this is the reason why the warranty card has a purchase date which is preceeding 2018. Any thoughts on this? Thanks! |

Very weird. Are the serial number matching between the bill, card, and rehaut?

Weird indeed... the bill matches with the warranty card, but it has been written (printed) by the seller himself, so that wouldn't be really a sign of trust.
I'm in the process of double checking the rehaut to verify the serial matching with what printed on the card. The seller has a good reputation so this whole thing seems very odd. |

Thanks for the advice. By RSC you mean a Rolex Boutique or it needs to be a specific store/centre?
Other noob question... what happens if I bring it there and it is found out that it's not authentic? :D |

It’s not normal, regardless what the seller states.
RSC is the official Rolex Service Center owned by Rolex.

Just confirming that the warranty card code and the rehaut engraved code are matching 100%
I'll check if I can get some help from an RSC |

Not normal. Probably some goon at the AD forgot which year it was. A common cognitive error, especially in the month on January each year.

It looks like the watch was originally bought grey with an incompletely filled out warranty card and for some reason(whatever that may be) the dodgy date was subsequently written on it. Don't worry about it too much unless you are having some anxiety around the validity of the warranty and expiry date. Once it's out of warranty, throw the card in the bin or hang onto it a while longer in case Rolex may decide on granting a bit of good will in the event something goes wrong with the watch Congratulations on your watch and enjoy it to the full |

Yes, I thought about this possibility because the warranty card - which also seems original) has all the matching printed details. It displays the AD's name (a store in Bahrain), but no customer name. This corroborates the grey market theory. The purchase date is handwritten, so it could have been added randomly at later stage. I don't mind about the warranty at this point. The watch is pretty much in almost mint condition. The idea is to keep it long term and service it in 2025-2028 (if I will still be alive). As someone else is stating, in case something goes wrong, I may be able to challenge the seller. The seller has a very reputable store on Chrono24 (thousands of reviews) and they released their own certificate of authenticity. I would believe that if at any point this is found to be untrue, they should be liable. I'll clarify this with the seller anyways. |

Don't believe anything. Reviews can be bought, certificates are meaningless unless made by actual certifications agencies (COTECNA, SGS) or official companies (RSC). |

Have the watch checked and ask him to give you a new price "without papers"

For what I understand, the only way to ensure that the watch is genuine, would be to have it serviced by Rolex at this point. |

Doesn't make sense.
As you stated, the revised 126660 was introduced in 2018. There shouldn't be any with a 2017 warranty card. |

Buying a watch, an expensive watch, with a 'story' is never a good idea.
Your call of course, but I'd be looking elsewhere. There are plenty for sale in the UK and Europe. For example, I have no affiliation with this dealer, but I've bought from them before, their watches are always 'correct'. https://www.watches.co.uk/watches/ro...s/sea-dweller/ Good luck, whatever you decide to do. [EDIT] Oh, I see you've already bought it. As you were, then. |

Hi I’d think about returning it, a few things don’t stack up there are lots of others out there. No green tag papers incorrect and seller stating that it’s normal to have a date before they were released??? I’d walk away and get your money back

Thanks for reading my post Danny! I've just added 2 pictures showing front/back of the warranty card. You can find them here. I've also obscured the original shop's name, which does exist. |

I suspect the warranty card will have been left blank maybe and then someone with out production dates knowledge has written a date relevant to them as the purchase date.

This. I once bought a watch that had a 2010 date written on the card but the watch wasn’t released until 2014. Rolex confirmed the true date of sale by looking up the serial number (ended up being 2016).
