oysterquartz service

Hello all!

I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction of servicing my oysterquartz. I have a beautiful 5 mill serial 17013 which I love(first luxury watch/first rolex) that I left without a battery for a year or so and upon replacing it doesn't operate the way it should. It keeps perfect time if it's not on my wrist, but if I wear it it will lose time quickly. I really don't know much about servicing these and was hoping I could find someone to not destroy it.

Have it serviced at a RSC. They have the spare ‘motors’ and circuit boards that your watch might need. There are a few places that say they can repair the circuit board but I would rather just have a new one. Oysterquartz is the one watch I would always send to Rolex to repair.

This. Have your AD send it to the Lititz, PA RSC. I’ve been told that’s where to send it for vintage service and repairs.

How long ago, and if you don’t mind, how much for the OQ DD service from RSC?

I'm curious to know as well. I don't expect it to be pretty.

NYC is a good 2 hours west of me and I don't currently have a pre existing relationship with an AD. My local option is london jewelers, is there a major benefit of going into NYC?

If you use an AD, they become the customer and all discussion goes through them - and they make the decision for you.

If you go directly to the RSC, you are the customer and you receive the estimate of work, that you approve before work is done. They will ship it back to you so you won't make two trips.

OQ DD is $1,000 for the full service + parts.

9 weeks turnaround time.

How does one go through the RSC themselves without an AD? I tried going to my local RSC in Littiz and was told to go to my local AD

Lititz is a carry-over for the big RSC's and a lot of their work is sent there.

You can mail/ship your Rolex to the RSC of your choice. Call and they will give you instructions and a label.
