Yellow Gold Tarnishing

I have a yellow Day Date year 2020 which I suspected of getting a tarnish even though its only been worn once. I recently took delivery of a new Sky Dweller 2021 in yellow gold which confirmed my thoughts. They are very different in colour.
I was expecting this to happen, my yellow gold Patek 5146j has also changed to an orange tinge.
I am aware this is a product of the alloys in the makeup of the gold.
Does anyone know of a non destructive method of returning to the original colour. I do not want to polish any of these watches.

I removed the oxidation from my bronze watches using denture cleaning tablets. Has anyone had any experience in this area using a similar method.

I don’t have much to add, but I am curious as well. I totally fancy the TT SD43, but am leaning towards the stainless version as not sure how I would remove tarnish from PCLs without removing material. My other concern was how long after purchase will the gold show noticeable tarnish. Sounds like your 2020 is already showing signs. Very interesting.

Welcome to the Forum!

The consensus here seems to be that the Sunshine Cloth is a really good product and I think it might be something for you to consider. Based on the recommendation for the Sunshine Cloth other members here have given me, I have used both their blue and yellow cloths on textured sterling, stainless, bronze, and brass so far and am very happy with them.

Not much different than with a car, you would probably want to test on an inconspicuous area first (the inside of the bracelet, for example) to see what results you get and how you like them (and, if you don't, no harm, no foul). Someone with more experience on gold could chime in, but I imagine you would need to use only the lightest pressure to remove the patina.

There’s only one way to remove surface oxidation.

there have been threads here about different tones of yg between different models. it could also be that or the fact that the day date reflects light differently and could change the tone a bit. did you keep it in a safe the whole time?

Do you store your watches in a safe a majority of the time? If so, is there any type of dehumidifier inside?
