Vintage Serving for Chrono

Hey guys, I’ve had a little bit of a bust with my service guy. He serviced my Hamilton 7723 back last year, and was supposed to have a one year warranty.

The Chrono started resetting past noon a bit back, and he said it was an easy fix, but sent it back to me still broken. Now saying it needs more parts and just wants to refund me half my money :/

2 questions, and on the first one I’m asking you to speculate:

1) even though it has been serviced, will it require another full service to have another watchmaker fix it if it requires new parts?

2) who would y’all recommend I talk to for something like this?

I included a photo contain a vintage rolex in hopes I could keep it here :) know this is where the experts prowl on TRF.

If it needs part and will be fully disassembled anyways then a new watch maker will probably require a full service so that they know all is good when it leaves their shop and there are no lingering issues from someone elses previous work.

I would call it quits with the current watchmaker and find someone else for sure. Sounds like a non stop headache at the moment.

I would ditch your current watchmaker.

Not sure where you're located and/or if you want to ship your watch. But there's a place in Valley City, ND called TM Watch Co. They do exceptional work. I sent them a vintage Tissot Chronograph and it came back running and looking like new!

Here's a link to their site. DM me if you have any questions.

I called and talked to him earlier today, and am considering sending him the watch.

He seemed like a stand up guy, was easy to talk to and is hopeful he can fix it without a fully service, but obviously didn’t guarantee it.

The other watchmaker and I agreed to part ways, and he refunded half my service cost at his suggestion, so it could be worse.

Will do. I’m going to send it off to him next week.
