Grönefeld 1941 Salmon vs Silver

Hey there, folks. Wanted to hear whats the consensus here. Between these two dial + it’s own unique strap which one do you prefer? Salmon or Silver? Thoughts are predicated. And if anyone has them and would like to post pics, I’d be grateful. :)

I saw both in person months ago and I personally think that Gronefeld makes the best Salmon dials in the business so Salmon would be my choice. Do you have an opportunity to buy one?

If you had asked me in conversation I’d probably have said salmon but looking at them side by side I prefer the silver. If I had darker skin that salmon would pop nicely but on my wrist it would be washed out. I also find gronefeld watches to be more Teutonic than say a Journe or PP and the silver fits that aesthetic well.

I’m in the same boat. I’m transparent and don’t want to loose it’s pop. The strap is quite lovely, but so is the one on the silver dial one. Arghhh. Also, I do have other silver dials in my collection. Not a single salmon dial one.

They are both beautiful dials but the salmon has a wonderful, almost glistening, texture whereas the silver is enamel, I believe. I actually was one of the last to be fortunate enough to secure an order and I chose the salmon dial. It's so hard to wait the expected 2 more years. For what it's worth, I did recently speak with them and, although the new ( unannounced) movement production was impacted by covid, the Principia continued to move along as expected. Hopefully new orders later this year?

Salmon. When I think of this watch, I think salmon. Of course, both are amazing, but forced to choose...salmon all the way

Don't overlook the silver (rhodium)! It is incredibly versatile and looks amazing on every strap color. Mine actually came with the brown strap and I added the blue python just b/c I feel like it is the signature option. Like others noted it might depend on skin color. I love the look of the salmon and if you are going to get a salmon watch, this should be the one, but feel it might not work as well on me and you are more limited in strap options.

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to chime in. Both great options but I’m leaning heavily towards the silver. Incoming soon? :)

Was going to jump on Salmon but I think the blue hands look better, and outstanding, on the silver. Both are great though, can’t go wrong.

Congrats! Awesome choice man, it’s a great addition to any collection.

Now I will be the one to ask the question on everyone’s mind….how did you get one so quick? Haha

In light of others' views and pics above...i change my vote to silver. It's simply more versatile and probably practical for me. Plus, it looks absolutely amazing on that blue snake skin strap..and the silver really makes the hands pop. What a watch.
