WTS: Patek Philippe Annual Calendar 5146G Full Kit

Price: USD 36,500.00

Description

This is the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar 5146G. Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe has always been at the upper echelons of haute horology. A company that has always been privately owned, Patek has been manufacturing watches for almost two centuries without interruption. The company is currently owned by the Stern family, whose heritage dates back to when they were supplying dials to Patek in the 1920s.

While the Aquanauts and Nautiluses have experienced a meteoric rise in prices, they are best known for their complicated, high-end timepieces. Without taking anything away from the success of the Nautilus, it’s clear that there is tremendous comparative value in their complicated wristwatches given the prices today. In the 1920s, Patek created the world’s first split-second chronograph and the first perpetual calendar, and later, the first perpetual calendar chronograph. Rich in history with complicated timepieces, it’s clear that complications are in the brand’s DNA.

The reference 5146 is Patek’s successor to their 5035, which incidentally was the first ever annual calendar. Keeping the aesthetic of the successful 5035 with the round case and side pushers, the 5146 was produced at a more modern 39mm case size. They decluttered the dial with the removal of the Roman numerals and replaced it with Arabic quarters and the addition of the moonphase at the 6. As with earlier models of this reference, this one is powered by the Calibre 315 SC. While their sports models has rightfully seen a meteoric rise in demand, there’s enough reason to feel that a complicated model from Patek Philippe is fairly undervalued.

Condition

This Patek Philippe 5146G is in excellent pre-owned condition. There are a few hairlines on the white gold case from light use but no major dings. Both front and back crystals remain in excellent condition with no signs of wear. The watch also retains its original box, papers and pusher as well as the original Patek Philippe strap and buckle. The watch is in full working order.
