That is pretty tight if your looking to buy new.
A SS AIrking would be around $3000. Not sure of the discounts available. ps Welcome aboard.

IF your budget is $2K, you will have to get him something used. There is plenty to pick out there. Including Air-king, SS-Date, and maybe a SS-Datejust if you can find it. Don't limit yourself to 2006 year only as many used Rolex watches are in like new condition even though they are a few years old. Happy hunting.

Agree with Wolfgang have a look around the ADs for used dont worry to much about the age of the watch. There are watches out there 10 -15 years old and looking as new.

Welcome to TRF, Freddy. As others have said, you might find something previously worn in your price range. I've got three vintage Rolexes - an '83 DJ, '86 DD and a '91 DJ, and they all look as good now as when they came out of the box.
Rolex are tough and can hold their beauty for many years. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

Welcome to the club. As a present to my father, I got him a DD (vintage, same production year as when I was born), as I had bought a new DD for myself when my first kid was born. He is in love with that watch; it has 'meaning', nut just a watch. Pre-owned with a specific manufacture date is a great gift (ie when your wife was born, when ther were married, etc.)

Welcome to TRF The cheapest mans 06 Rolex you'll come across would probably be an Airking. It would end up being in the $2700 - $2800 range I would think

I have bought three Rolex watches on eBay and I believe if you buy from
a reputable dealer selling used Rolex watches with a guarantee of authenticity, you will not only get a wonderfully maintained Rolex, but you will get a fair deal as well. I am speaking of BeckerTime and PhilWatch in particular. This guys move a lot of watches; yes they typically ship without a COSC certificate, presentation box, or other new Rolex paraphernalia, but if I can get a 1998 Stainless Steel Datejust for $1700 or a 1997 14060 in excellent condition for $2300, I am a satisfied buyer. As much as I would like a new 2006 16610, I am not about to spend $4300. |
