Yachtmaster II, what you think?

What do you think about YG Yachtmaster II?

I am planning to buy a Rolex soon and I really like the YG/Blue Bezel/White Dial combination.

I like it. Most people talk crap about it,but most people don't own one. Very unique and definitely lives up to it's name.

It's a striking watch, but I personally prefer the WG version

It's an obnoxious atrocity as far as I'm concerned. I can't imagine what was going through their heads when they designed that beast! Just my opinion.

What I like about it is the technology it represents. Think the bezel markings are overdone though and find this complication and the absence of a date would lead me to buy a different watch unless I had a gazillion dollars. Really not a very useful watch.

Am I right, zero lume too?

Agree, but the yg Sub with the blue bezel and dial is superior in looks I think. Less bling on the Sub.

Agree.

And by the way, what does the regatta chronograph actually do? Count down from 10 to 0 and that's it?

It's too busy for my taste, imo. However, it's something to appreciate as a fine timepiece.

Ditto. I love the countdown complication, despite the fact that I am no longer a sailor and would have not practical use for a 10 minute countdown timer. I still like the WG version, though.

Impressive technological implementation of the 10 minute count down function... but nothing for me, I'm afraid.

Best,

I like the WG better than the YG, but that's a personal view..

I believe that the Yachtmaster II will become on of those 5 or 6 figure Rolexes to collectors in a decade or two. The genius behind a mechanical "computer" in a wristwatch is something to recognise...

this one will eventually be up there with the Triple Date, etc.

It is an impressive watch. I'd like to see a more utilitarian version in stainless steel. Not all yacht owners are bazillionaires.

not that the YG YM2 is ugly, but at that price bracket my money goes to the 116619.

If you’re a hardcore (Rolex) movement freak the YMII is the way to go.
BUY IT

I tried it on a few months back and I didn't like it at all, worst Rolex design ever IMO.

It's a bit like the Deepsea - people either hate it or love it. I'm in the latter camp - I think it's a handsome watch and I like the countdown function. My only gripe is that it doesn't come in a more affordable S/S version.

I like it! I like the white gold version more though. I think it would be a better investment than a Daytona of equal value.

Well, if you do have it, it's because you like it...

Nice pics, still doesn't do it for me though. Maybe it will grow on me, but until then.

For my wrist it's too big.

Tried the YG on. Didn't really like the color combinations, but loved the looks of the WG version.

It's an enginering masterpiece however. If you likethe colors: Buy it, but take a look at the WG version first.

Fully agree this is an awesome watch to see in person. They will always be limited in production and the movement is an amazing horological achievement.
