Incoming - almost missed it!
Today is the day I never thought would happen. I had been referred to a local AD by one of my best friends who had a decent purchase history (4 watches plus jewelry). That AD wanted me to “establish myself as a customer” before they’d consider getting me the watch I really wanted. After checking back with that AD multiple times and texting the sales rep multiple times I figured they were never going to sell me a watch without purchasing other stuff first. I knew I was requesting one of the toughest to get but I was willing to wait up to a year or more, but this dealer wouldn’t even commit to telling me it was even possible let alone putting me on a list, real or imaginary.
Just by chance about three months ago I was at another AD in the local mall and stopped in to inquire. I told him about my interactions with the first AD and that it was frustrating but that I understood. He was very nice and told me that they never require customers to purchase other jewelry first. He took my name and I let him know I was hoping for a GMT “Pepsi” with oyster or jubilee. I wasn’t expecting to hear anything. Yesterday I was out of town and golfing in the morning then on a flight traveling home in the afternoon and evening and I had 3-4 messages from missed calls. I finally got around to checking those messages this afternoon only to find two messages from the second AD telling me he had a watch for me and that he hoped to hear back from me by the end of the day yesterday or he’d have to offer it to the next person. I immediately called him back and luckily he hadn’t moved on yet (he said he was going to call me again today before he moved on, whew). Obviously ecstatic, I drove right in and picked it up! I feel lucky to have gotten the call after only three months from my first contact with this AD. Here’s a pic of my new Rolex: One question, I was really hoping to get an oyster, but I had originally let him know I’d also take either and obviously the Jubilee is what came in. I think I’ve seen people commenting that they ordered the oyster band from their AD. How does that work? (My AD didn't know and said he’d have to research it) |

Congratulations. That was a close call.
The BLRO is a beauty in the metal. I bought mine through my AD late last year on Oyster. I have since decided to get a Jubilee for it. My RSC will swap it over and I can either trade in the Oyster or keep it. I'm keeping both bracelets. I'm in the UK. |

Once you start wearing it on the jubilee, you want the oyster anyway |

Congratulations!!
Your AD should be able to order the Oyster (p/n: 79200) bracelet for your watch through their parts account.

Kurt, congrats. No need to downgrade to the Oyster. Looking 150% fine just the way it is.

Awesome story, congrats. I am guessing that was at Watches of Switzerland in the Mall of America, the former Ben Bridge? Can't think of another AD in a mall in the area.

Nice. There are some good SAs in that store and some who leave a lot to be desired. Glad you were able to snag that watch! Looks great.

I suggest you go back to the first AD wearing your new Pepsi and ask if they can purchase a new bracelet for your new watch!
