GMT 16750 case and caseback

Hello dear forum,

I would like to ask you guys what you think about the case of this GMT 16750, especially the caseback. The caseback is marked with 16750 on the inside.
I am happy to receive reviews from you guys.

Kind regards

Saki

Please share photos of the engraving on the inside as well.

Really hard to be definitive on just those pictures.

It's hard to say much based on those photos, but TBH my eyes were immediately drawn the the lug holes because they look cratered.

I wonder if those end-links are legit.

We will need photos of the caseback engravings, and more photos of the engravings on the end links. As others have stated, the end link polish grain looks off.

What is your concern? That is a counterfeit case / caseback?

If that is not your concern...then I can say that a couple parts looks nice, even with blurry pictures. Not anything I would buy unless I checked the reference numbers as it has been suggested that you provide above for a definitive review..

Do you think that bracelet is legit? Just curious.

Exactly, I am not sure about the originality of the case and caseback, as well as the originality of the bracelet.

I know you have mentioned in the past that you do not like to show pictures of your watch.

If you want help, you do not need to show a picture of your serial number but the model reference and caseback is a start. Also pictures of your bracelet, blades with reference numbers. Nothing there has a signature of the watch (serial) that should arise any concern to you.

Unfortunately, I don't have the tools here to open the GMT and take the bracelet off.
I still have an old photo of the movement.

Can't show photos between the lugs, won't show photos of other parts of the watch. If the OP is really so paranoid, why get involved in an Internet forum and continue to ask cryptic questions. Take your watch to a local expert and pay him to authenticate it.

You‘re right Dan. I‘m very paranoid with this watch.
I just really couldn't remove the bracelet today. Because I have no tool here. I am currently in a place where there is unfortunately no specialist for old Rolex. Sorry, for my cryptic questions.

Greetings
Saki

FWIW, comparing the lip of the caseback vs. mine (also a 16750), it looks different but it could very well just be make variations.

Again, not enough with those photos.

I have done some research. I observed in most 16750 the swing of the 5 is different. But there are differences there too.
Can anyone estimate the originality?
On the other side is the serial number, which also matches the certificate of the watch.

Kind regards

Thank you for your reply. Of course, this is not good news. I have now looked at some engravings of 16750 GMTs. There were differences there too. Are there such forgeries that are even matched to the certificate?
I am really worried now

The entire case incl. caseback look like they came fresh from the factory yesterday - likely from a site that makes fakes

I don't really agree with this. It has seen a fair amount of polishing and there is significant end-link wear between the lugs, which doesn't happen overnight.

Anything's possible. As others have mentioned, I suggest you post clear photos if you want valid input from people. Dial and warranty. You can blur the last few digits if you want.

I am shocked. Is there any chance that the watch is not fake after all? The movement is not fake, I had the GMT specially checked at Rolex. They didn‘t see the problem with the case.
I will post more pictures tomorrow.

Here are the engravings on my both of my "original owner" 1987 SN 8997XXX 16750 for comparison, if that helps. Numbers definitely look different than what is one your example.

i'll check it against my 16750 engraving tonight and post a pic but upon first look, it does look a little odd but could be wrong.

This is the best photo I have of the dial at the moment. Tomorrow I will make better ones. I had the watch checked by my Rolex dealer before I bought it, as I do with all my vintage watches.

Image from the certificate. Again, tomorrow I'll try to post better pictures. I am very annoyed that I was probably cheated here.

@swaini yes, it was an authorized Rolex dealer. The watchmaker has been working with Rolex watches for 40 years. I am good customer there. They said the watch was fine.

Get it serviced by RSC - if they service it, you can take it as a legitimate case.

The position of the 16750 close to the bottom of the case is another clue about this likely being an aftermarket case.

The stampings on both the bracelet and the end pieces are also suspect and this might be an aftermarket bracelet as well.

The side view of the bezel doesn't look right either so I'd be looking at every detail of this watch, dial, movement, etc. to try and determine just how bad the problem is.
