Looks like the second row of numbers, 4453, on the caseback will be your model number to help with your research.

Not sure if part of the dial is refinished, bottom part Swiss Made, but better pictures and I am sure others will chime in..

Perfect thank you, when I look at the sub dial under a loop their is no sign of it being refinished

Perhaps you can post a high resolution photo showcasing the dial. We really don't need to see so much carpet.

Rose-in-shield logo puts it at 1946-47 if original. Winding crown is obviously later. The 4453 was a common reference around that time.

That’s interesting, I did buy the watch from a watch maker and he had owned the watch for 20 years. He did say that the crown was a replacement and he did also say the everything else was original including the dial. I just wanted everyone’s opinions on it

It looks ok at a glance. If you Google "Tudor 4453 Oyster" you'll find a a few different styles. The Tudor brand was officially launched in 1946 and they went with that logo till sometime in 1947 then switched to just the rose on its own.

Oh right I didn’t know that, thank you. Under a loop the dial has got some slight patina on it. I have heard that not every dial variant is on the internet

Likely a leather strap. Just find one you like with the correct lug width (17mm?).

Yes it’s a bit of an awkward size 17mm as my 31 mm Rolex is 16mm and 34mm watches are 18mm

Hirsch makes 17mm straps in several styles, and you can also find many custom strap makers online, e.g. Etsy.

Responded on vrf about dial being likely original:

‘ The rose in shield logo (before shield dropped and just rose….and until rose dropped,* and just the shield was resurrected in 1968), is consistent with early 21,000 Serial number, and way OYSTER is scripted looks correct for period. I’m leaning toward original dial.

* Not withstanding the re-edit 79220 R, B and N of 10 yrs ago that had gilt style small rose - just for we fellow accuracy pedants ! ’

These small early Tudors are very cheap well under 4 figs on eBay btw.

Btw 34mm Tudors are usually 19mm, except the excellent 50/60s ‘OysterDate 34’ which is oddly 34.5mm and has 20mm lugs, wears like an early Datejust as it can take a 6251h

I believe the Tudor 4453 is 31mm case with 17mm lugs. Same as my old Oyster Chester 4453, which has by coincidence I notice a very similar serial number: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=477498
