Tudor Panda Chrono, Dilemma to Buy or Not

Hello,

I recently got an offer to buy the Tudor Panda at retail but I’m in a dilemma.

I just wanted to check if it is a wise move to forego this opportunity. It’s a good watch, and one that I’ve been trying to get for a while but I’ve heard that this is just an initial hype for this watch.

If that is the case I’d rather put my money elsewhere for the short term.

What are your thoughts and advice?

Tudors sell below MSRP gray, at least in EU and not that hot regardless of model.

I'd buy it at MSRP only if needed to invest into AD relationship for harder to get Rolexes.

Otherwise, no.

Perhaps I should’ve given more context. If one has infinite amount of disposable income then the decision making is easy. I like the watch, but I’ve also been saving up for another watch which I really don’t want to push back any longer. With the current situation with some watches like this Tudor, if it was easily available I’d easily pass and buy at a later date. When it’s not, it becomes a difficult choice.

The fact that you have doubt over the purchase gives your your answer.

If you truly wanted it there would be no dilemma and no hesitation

My husband was called 3 or 4 times when it came out, he looked at both the first time and passed. Now they are available. Tudor typically holds certain models back at first to keep interest high. Then after a year they become readily available. Don’t buy this watch with the idea you won’t have another chance.

The BB58 was tough to find at first. I saw 3 last weekend.

Good point Michelle.

When I bought my BB58 blue I had a choice of all three bracelet/strap variants (all were in the window available to purchase)

Personally, I think it’s a fantastic piece. I had my eyes on it since it was released and pulled the tigger on it when the opportunity presented itself a year later. She’s a beauty and you won’t be disappointed.

If you like the watch you buy it. If you expecting to be able to flip it for profit "for the short term" or even long term then this is not the watch for you.

I own both the black and white dial versions of this watch. I think it is great and they get more wrist time than my two SS Daytona-C's. Maybe because they are more low key but also the wear is great for my 7.5 inch wrist. If you like it and will wear it, buy it. Otherwise just sit tight and continue to save for the watch you have been waiting for.

Save your money. They are readily available. My local AD has them sitting in the case.

These three responses pretty much cover it. This is not a hard watch to get. Only get it if you want it.

You want it? Buy it. You don't want it, don't buy it. Hype should have nothing to do with it.

It sounds like you aren't sold on the Tudor and should pass. While I have a couple of Tudor (BB GMT and BB Pro), personally I'm not a fan of the BB Tudor Chrono. Save and buy the watch you really want.

It's a great watch. But only buy it if you love it.

You can get it Grey for under msrp or close to it, so save for the other watch and come back to it later! Unless established history with an AD that is !

A few weeks ago I got a call from the AD that they got one in. I thought by the pictures i needed it but when I actually tried it on, it wasn't for me.

Sounds like you only want to buy it if it's popular on the internet and if you can sell it easily.

I'd pass.

I think depending on your locations these can be easily had at an AD. If you don’t want it turn it down.

I get being budget conscious. It's a big purchase, sometimes being active on forums like this one dilutes that a bit.

The way I read the OP, hype has nothing to do with his desire to have the watch, but it is putting additional pressure on him to make the purchase now whilst one is readily available at retail.

Wait on the watch....

Build more of nest egg where so you feel completely comfortable buying the watch, you don't want second thoughts taking away from the excitement of owning it.

Now if the watch had just been discontinued and this was the last of old dealer stock, then perhaps, but this watch will be readily available for a long time.
