OP41 vs Speedmaster

Since these two pieces are somewhat equal in price.

Which would you buy? Any colored OP

I'll take the OP.

I've tried the Speedmaster 3 times (3 different iterations) and it has left shortly thereafter each time. While I like the idea of the Speedmaster and the associated history, I just can't seem to fall in love with it once it's on the wrist.

Obv. I'm biased since owning one, but Speedy all day! To me, the OP is a boring watch without any character

I have Rolex and SMP, I really love my SMP. So my vote is SMP.

Love the look of SMP.

Any OP, any time. Every time. Can't beat that Oyster bracelet and clasp. Perfect, timeless case design.

I would go Speedy. To be fair, I went to the OB in San Fran fully ready to pull the trigger on a sapphire sandwich Moonwatch but was unimpressed once it was on my wrist. Tried on the Speedmaster Moonphase with the automatic movement and had to have it. It’s become my daily for work; wonderful exhibition caseback but not as flashy as my JC (a benefit for my work environment). Ultimately get whichever one sings to you but that’s my $.02

OP41 green for the hype. obviously.

Speedmaster if i'm actually looking for a real watch. Great chrono. New bracelet super comfortable, new CAN BE HAD FOR UNDER $6k.

The bracelet on the OP is better than the Speedy.

These are two completely separate and different watches. Why bother to compare? You should be looking more at the Seamasters as a comparison. Or the SMP vs the Daytona.

The OP has more water resistance, long power reserve and
Some other stuff I’ve forgotten. But it’s a standard 3 hander. Do you need a Chrono? Do you prefer colours?

It’s all too much to compare the two.

I have both, a Hesalite Speedy and a red OP41. Completely different watches, if I were you I would get the Speedy first, then an OP later.

I’m an unapologetic Rolex fanboy but I’d take a Speedy over an OP. I know a Speedy on the wrist would make me smile more than an OP.

Technically, there is no comparison. The OP is a tough watch but the Omega is almost better in all areas except hype and water resistance. Everything else is just subjective.

Saying all of that, I'd probably still pick the OP. I've just traded my 3861 SS Speedy against an older Explorer. The Speedy is a great watch and a classic, but as others have said I never properly 'bonded' with it, despite over a year of trying!

Speedy for me. I don't have any of them.

But ironically, I am in the list waiting for a green OP41 and not a Speedy.

IMO it's not a fair comparison. The OP is way better than the Speedmaster and it'll always be the OP for me.

Speedmaster of course, but I wouldn’t mind have a blue dial OP41 too.

I'd only ever buy one Omega and it's not the speedy . Just don't like them

The OP 41 is a great line up of watches. Just a shame they discontinued certain colours when they should have added more instead

Fascinated to know what this based on. Clearly you feel the OP is far superior to the Speedmaster

I was wondering that too. Fine if people just prefer the aesthetic of one over the other, but I'm genuinely interested in knowing the reasons why the OP is "way better than the Speedmaster".

I have no problem with the OP at all, but out of those two I'd take the Speedmaster myself...every...single...time.

Speedy. 100% The new bracelet is just as comfortable as the oyster.

While I like the OP, the Speedy is just that much better imho. It looks better, it’s super iconic, it has a great chrono complication.

OP41 vs Speedmaster

Standard silver OP41 if you don't own a Rolex. In a larger collection than something more interesting. I swapped for a Blancpain FF Bathycaphe. In a more interesting dial color, it would be a harder choice.

OP 41 green. Not taking anything away from how iconic the Speedmaster is.

I bought a hesalite Speedy in November 2022 and absolutely love it. Wear it all the time and never get bored of it.

Any watch guy has to have the moonwatch in their collection.
