Moonswatch pass

I stopped by the Houston Swatch store this afternoon, and they had several Moonswatches; the Earth, Sun, Mars, Venus, and Uranus. This was the first time I'd seen and handled one, and it was a hard pass for me. I didn't have any high expectation of a cheap plastic watch, but I expected at some point I'd probably buy a couple of them whose colorways I liked. I got over that in about five seconds, and realized it was just a novelty and not even worth the $260 price tag, at least to me. I've been guilty of getting sucked into the hype for a lot of junk that ends up in drawers, closets, and ultimately thrown away or donated. This would be more of the same. I'd rather spend it on another strap for my 3861!

I definitely felt it was already overpriced when I purchased mine. But my wife was pretty happy about it so I didn't say anything. The strap is criminally bad tho. So I'm ordering a rubber strap for like $85 which just makes it even more expensive.

Yeah, these are definitely trendy-fun watches, and these have never been anything else. When I saw these at the first sight, yes I felt too, that "WHAT THE .... IS THIS?" Omega and Swatch? Moonswatch? In a casing like a Speedy has? A cheap fake made for their own?

But in the meantime, I had a new need for a non expensive watch, which I don't need to care for at all. So a lot later, when a looked around for a watch like this, I was the most surprised, that there were no alternatives at this price point of this watch in the ~39-40 mm diameter range. So I purchased one, and for this kind of need, it's more then perfect. For anything else we have the Mastercard, the Rolexes and so on :)

About another strap: +1, me too ordered another.

I put mine on a cheap NATO. so much better than what comes with it and didn't add much cost.

I paired mine with a rubber strap from perpetual straps - they did a decent job matching the colors.

I got one at the Houston store back in October of last year. The strap sucks so I had one custom made by Aaron Bespoke. I wear it to the gym/travel. Great beater.

Yes, I thought I'd feel the same way (and I do agree that the MSRP is too high for these watches), but when I tried them on I changed my mind. I love the colorful ones. It's a fun summer watch :D

Not for me, but you have a nice collection. Good luck finding the last one you want.

The moonswatch is THE reason I decided not to buy an Omega Speedmaster professional. A pity. I was disappointed that Omega would degrade their flagship model and transfer their branding into a plastic, disposable watch.

WIS Straps came in clutch!

The moonswatch straps are trash.. I know it is a cheaper watch, but I really dont like the OEM straps at all.

I added a WIS Watch Strap polar white to my Mission to Mercury and man.. what a difference. Now I wear it almost daily.

Defiantly check out WIS if you are looking for the decent quality and decent prices. Makes a big difference on the moonswatches.
