FS: 1991 Explorer II Ref 16570 Rolex Service 4/2023 w/ Two Year Rolex Warranty

Hi I am selling my 1991 "N" Explorer II, I owned since new bought in 1993 Ben Bridges Jewelers Seattle, WA. It was just serviced and has Rolex warranty until 4/2025. Card and PPW provided. Original tritium dial and hands, SWISS T<25 were retained, excellent condition. The markers are starting transition to cream.

Watch was well taken care of and worn for my job as a pilot. The watch has been to 6 of 7 Continents. The 24 hand and time (GMT) is key to aviation. As you likely know you can set hour hand independently (ideal for setting local time) with second hand hack. The 3185 caliber is the result of 90 yrs of Rolex experience and all the following GMT and Explorer II Calibers were based on this caliber with minor tweaks (feel free to correct me below). I can say they got it right. It has always kept excellent accuracy since new (+/-2 seconds).

This watch ruined me. After I bought it, my lust for new watches subsided. This is my ideal watch. Why sell? I am not wearing it much anymore, and after +30 years it is time. I want it to go to a good home.

The watch is in very good to condition, as it just came out of service (with 2 year warranty). Yes it was polished with strict instructions "LIGHT". They did a great job. I can provide before and after pictures. Before it was still nice but had light scratches on bracelet. The case was very good with one scratch by the 18 hour bezel mark. The back was pristine. Green Rolex sticker was on it for 30 years until removed for service. So finish is new (matte finish with polish around edge). Because it was a "LIGHT" polish some minor wear is still visible if you know where, how to look and with magnification. Pictures with "macro" mode show wear "patina", normal for a +30 yr old watch. It goes along with the vintage cream dial and hands. Naked eye at arms length, can't see it.

At time of recent Rolex Service, I could have elected to replace dial and hands (Rolex exchange only) and done a heavy polish (removing more metal). I was advised on this forum not to do that. I agree. There are no excuses it is nice. In years to come I believe these choices make the watch more valuable at least to me. It shows history and that it was not over polished. There is always buying a new watch (at three times price). Pictures = 1000 words. Better pictures coming, including bracelet droop which I think is nil. Feel free to request pictures.

This watch on "Bob's Watches" sells $8750 to $13450 (average $10,495). I'm asking $7950. I do not have original box, but have another Rolex box plus the Rolex pouch I received back after Rolex Service w/ PPW, including Warranty Card. Free shipping, registered, insured, adult signature required no substitutes. I may consider a drive half way to meet in person. I live near Memphis. I am doing road trips this summer.

If you have questions PM me. (PS some pictures have finger prints on them, will fix soon. I am not a Pro watch seller / flipper. However this is a Pro watch, sold by original owner, with Rolex warranty, very nice known one owner "provenance". Please enjoy Ad and if interested contact me.)

Finger prints on latch, sorry, it is finished to like new Rolex standards.
